Something has to be done

That's League's biggest drawback IMO. Burgess now has the chance to play in a credible World Cup, and the Six Nations every winter, potential Lions tours and test himself in Test Rugby against the best of the Southern Hemisphere. League has Origin and fuck all else really.

Well, if we look post 2005 there has actually been a decline or drop off. It's admittedly quite small but it's there from the numbers I'm reading.

Considering the growth between 98 and 05 a stagnation is a decline nonetheless, if you know what I mean.

What has the rate of stadium building been like in the last 10 or so years compared to the decade before that?

96-98 is irrelevant, it's heavily affected by the Super League.

Picking two of the biggest abnormal numbers out of that list ('98 & '05) gives you a strong case but it's not a reflection of the true numbers. These were extreme peaks and lows, the definition of an anomaly but I think you already know that.

Given the infrastructure that was built around the 2000 Olympics I'm actually surprised there wasn't more of a gain during that period of the early 00's but I'm probably underestimating the affect the Super League had on the game.

There's nothing in those numbers that suggests to me people are turning away from the grounds. And I certainly don't accept stagnation being considered a decline.

There has been a decline. It's small but it's not insignificant given the growth in popularity of the game overall.

And as for disingenuous numbers, using the jump from 14k to 16k as if it's a representation of growth over the last 10 years, is inaccurate.

Well maybe I should've paid more attention in Maths class then.

What can you do though, Zoo Weekly was always such a good read.

Nah fair go. It's disingenuous. To phrase it the way you did. I think you did that because you were simply unaware of this plateau. I was too ftr.

What about the cost of attending a live game? What do people think about the impact that has on crowds?

I pay under $11 a game for a seat between the 30m & 40m line in one of the best rectangular Stadiums in the country.

Whilst ticket prices have gone up the focus on membership has been nothing but a huge win for people like myself who regularly attend games. The re-introduction of discounts for club members @ away games over the last year and a bit now has also been very positive.

I can't speak for all clubs but the Roosters do a good job of looking after their regular attendees.

Not sure why, during daylight savings, that the Sydney game isn't scheduled for 6:30 local time and the Brisbane game 8:30.

Because Nine don't want to show NRL games at 6:30, basically.

It's certainly not helping, from my experience. It's rather expensive.

The NRL has pretty much done everything in it's power to worsen the quality of the game. The 2005 season was easily the greatest in the league's history so it's no surprise that attendances have fallen since.

Also how fucken shit is this. Delayed game on ch 9 twice in a row. mutts.

Nah no way 2005 was better than 2002.

NRL has been terrible every year since 1971

The NRL was definitely not terrible 1972-1997 on account of not existing.
