So glad he was able to collaborate with Metallica before he died. Easily the best music both parties have ever produced... said no one, ever.
Earlier this year my band and I covered Velvet Underground's "Heroin" live. We clearly thought we were quite edgy covering a song about such a taboo drug at a teen centre. Regardless of that though the world lost such a brilliant musician today. I absolutely adored the charm and slickness of Lou Reed's persona and the suave he had in his vocal delivery.
RIP, Lou. My favourites... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkumhBVPGdg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7d69mDT11yI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4VB_0a2wUc And of course...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wNknGIKkoA
Lolled when he said Mermaid is a song about these sailors raping a mermaid, gave it another listen and lolled pretty hard when reading the lyrics.
Anyone hear Christopher Pyne last night carrying on about Lou Reed? Stupid cunt. 'I'm a child of the 70's so I don't know Lou Reed' Tom and Alex had a decent crack at him on the J's this morning.
