Big question for me is: What if Milford doesn't sign?

Will they play Barba at 6? I am reading in the papers that Hoffman might be an option, but I cant see that succeeding, he cant ballplay from the back with extra room, how can we expect him to do it with half the space to work in?

If they are hell-bent on playing Barba at 1, and they don't play Hoffman at 6, could we see Bond come in to play in the halves? Perhaps McCullough could return to his U20's position and play at 6 with Baptiste/Granville taking the hooker spots.

For me, it has to be Copley out of those 3.

However, seeing he is returning from a serious leg injury, we may see Oates there. Kahu is a dunce in defence, so I hope he isn't picked there.

What is Stagg up to next year?

    1. Barba
    2. Hoffman
    3. Glenn/Gillett
    4. Reed
    5. Kahu
    6. Milford
    7. Hunt
    8. Thaiday
    9. McCullough
    10. McGuire
    11. Stagg
    12. Glenn/Gillett
    13. Parker

    14. Kennedy
    15. Hannant
    16. Oates
    17. Granville/Baptiste

I like the balance of this side.

I really don't think he is. This is something that gained enormous traction because he had a good opening 15 minutes in Origin II, but Queensland's structure has unique requirements and he was a spent force after that opening stint anyway. He's more effective in his role as a prop when he runs wider, if that makes sense... but the second row position has evolved past him IMO. He's just there for yardage and momentum and unless you have a killer left edge that really thrives on that there are better uses for your edge forwards in 2013 (or 2014 as it will be).

They'd sooner would play Hoffman at five-eighth than Barba because of the defensive requirements IMO, and then you'd just have a really unconventional attacking structure. Barba would almost certainly be the alternate first receiver to Hunt even if he did play fullback; Hoffman wouldn't be getting anywhere near first receiver.

I think it'd be terrible but it wouldn't be terrible in the way people imagine which is precisely why I think they might try it.

I really don't rate Thaiday these days. I think he's a front rower playing playing on the edge. He has lost any footwork, offloading and passing skills he kinda used to have quite a while ago, he drops as soon as he touches a defender and he's lazy as fuck. I'd go with

    8. McGuire
    9. McCullough
    10. Thaiday (since he's the cap and we can't drop him to the bench)
    11. Glenn
    12. Gillett
    13. Parker

    14. Granville
    15. Hannant
    16. Kennedy
    17. Oates/Stagg/Dodds

Tasi is copping a bit of shit from Bronco fans at the moment.......I've seen some good things from him in his short stints on the field with us. Fitness might not be right at the moment.

Lui finally started playing with his finger out.......and looking better for it. Although it's rumoured that he might be signing with manly.

Hala seems to be made of glass......wish he wasn't. Could be a gun.

There's three guys with a bit of size who will most likely be filling in on the bench at some stage.

I certainly don't think the continuity of Thaiday's captaincy in a team undertaking wholesale change that's going to finish 12th or 13th is really worth anything at all tbh. If he's not good to start and/or play long minutes - and he's not - then he shouldn't be captain.

    I'd roll with:

    8. Hannant
    10. McGuire
    11. Gillett
    12. Glenn
    13. Parker (c)

    15. Thaiday
    16. Kennedy
    17. Oates

I think the situation is one where Thaiday was handed the captaincy as part of his deal. I recall him stalling talks to test his value, nekminnut he'd signed and was announced as the next skipper.

I doubt it's an official part of his contract though. He probably just got told he'd be captain if he re-signed. Handshake thing.

Without a doubt. You couldn't put something like that into a offical contract but something like that probably happened. As much as I love Sam Thaiday, I think Parker would have been a better option.

  12. Cribbage RG Cribb

Yeah but if that's what happened then you can easily dump his ass as captain now that he's not worthy of a starting spot and the team has been up the shit. If it's part of his contract then you're fucked of course but I doubt that.

I think Parker has said he doesn't want to be captain either, though that might have just been because he didn't want to offend anyone.

How can he captain from QC?

I agree but the other side of the argument is that he's also massively popular in Queensland. If you dump him as captain and he's unhappy, you could alienate a portion of your fanbase. The Broncos obviously should put footy results before the off-field stuff but it could be a massive risk IMO.

More than happy for the coons to stop supporting the Broncos.

    AWTA.

Thaiday might be able to start a large scale Abo suicide thing.

  18. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

    One can only hope.

We could make an agreement with them, and make Hodges captain.

  19. Harry Sack SB Slippy

Does he have a vice captain? Or pull a Souths and name several captains.

  20. Alec AD Funkotron

Glenn is the vice captain I think, he acted as one when Thaiday was binned.
