Club combos is the answer to this.....really it is....should try that next year IMO.....

Agreed. It really showed with the breakdown in play coming from the fullback. The obvious solution would be to run

    1. Minichello
    6. Maloney
    7. Pearce

  3. Old Mate M Perry

Can only play what the inferior state throws at us.

I wonder how everyone would rate the elite middle third forwards these days. I'd probably go:

    1. Gallen
    2. Graham
    3. Myles
    4. Scott
    5. Burgess
    6. Parker
    7. Watmough
    8. Tamou

  5. Old Mate M Perry

    McGuire.

  6. Jazz NC Smith

 Although in truth I'd place Scott fractionally ahead of Graham.

  7. Alec AD Funkotron

    Glenn Stewart

How many QLD players have been present for all 8 series wins (not necessarily all 3 games of each series, injuries etc)

  9. Cribbage RG Cribb

Even if he was good enough, he doesn't actually play middle third.

  10. Alec AD Funkotron

    Mark Minichiello.

I originally had Scott at #2 actually but I moved him to #4 because I felt Graham and Myles offered more utility value in the category. I don't think Graham's actually played much/any lock at all but he's definitely agile, skilful and tight enough in defence to do an excellent job at it IMO, while I think Scott would struggle. Myles is obviously proven quality in both positions. If you're going to judge how good a centre third forward someone is, the ability to play both positions should be worth something IMO.

With the exception of a roving defensive role, Graham was much like a lock for St Helens, particularly in later years. I think he is as close to being a lock as you can get without ever legitimately playing there.

  16. Cribbage RG Cribb

Yeah exactly. He's not technically played there as such but he plays very much like a modern lock while playing prop. It's something that occurred to me when I was trying to recreate the Canterbury structure in the rugby league simulator I was making; I had to put Graham at lock for it to really actually fit any sort of structure template that might apply to other sides.

  17. Julian BJ Taylor

well Fensom > tamou pretty comfortably IMO.
