PC Round 3- NSW City vs Asia By Chad Dyer The third round of the Provincial Championship opens with a mid-table clash between the ever-improving Asia and the old-hands NSW City. On paper, City look comfortably superior to the young Asian side, but the latter have shown an affinity to spring surprises upon the competition. In JA Chewie they have the best batsman around, and MP Chung has been in superb form this season - sitting second in the provincial wicket takers list. However, they find themselves facing a team with enough stars to fill a milky way. RG Cribb, SA Flack, L Popovic, AD Hunt, WC Welker and SB Wilson all sit in the top ten for their respective roles, and while they have underperformed until now, it would take a fool to bet against them. Players to watch: Asia: JA Chewie will need to post a big score or two if Asia hope to get anything out of this game. They've got a fair few useful batsmen, but he'll need to be the anchor. City: WC Welker leads the PC wicket takers list for this season, and he'll be looking to rip through the Asian batting line-up. Asia's bowling attack doesn't pose a huge threat outside of Chung, so they'll be looking to post a big score first up to make up for their bowling inefficiencies. Welker's job will be to prevent this. Our tip: City to take it comfortably - by 150 runs or 7 wickets. Chewie will fail to post a big score, and as a result the Asian batting line-up will struggle to post a total of substance in either innings.
