GoodAreasShane Team name: Minardi Cricket Club Name Rating: D I don't understand the name and not understanding things makes me feel scared and uncomfortable. Squad: 1. Eddie Moore 2. Sami Aslam 3. Kane Williamson 4. Darren Bravo 5. Travis Head 6. Kurtis Patterson 7. Dane Cleaver 8. Trent Copeland 9. Nikita Miller 10. Alzarri Joseph 11. Lungi Ngidi Heinrich Klassen Craig Williams Nandre Burger Tabraiz Shamsi Jake Weatherald Chemar Holder Tom Andrews Squad Depth: C+ Cricsim ate my first write up on this team and this upsets me. I mostly ranted about how you are going to force Kane to face the ignominy of battling for the spoon. You should trade him to me, for his sake. It isn't your fault that I logged out and when I logged back in it was still doing Captain's write up, so I'll just leave it at that. Short and sweet. Best Pick: Nikita Miller - Round 8 Morgs on The Nikita Miller Theorum: The main query is being a West Indian spinner, it's extremely easy to take wickets there. Still his record is the best of them, and while he's declined somewhat from the heady days of averaging 7, it's still a fair enough pick at this point. Cribb's Best Pick: Dane Cleaver and Tom Andrews Morgs on Cleaver : Has been very good in the last two years given the Plunkett in recent years has been rather bowler friendly. Less good this year but this is a good pick and probably a better player than your first-choice keeper. Dev on Andrews: A little bit of Nick Larkin theory at play. Outstanding Futures results with a tolerable FC record, not quite as spectacular in Futures as Larkin but still could fly under the radar. I like it as an option. Worst Pick: Heinrich Klaasen - Round 10 Morgs on Spud: Not really sold here, he hasn't done all that much at FC cricket recently when you consider that South African domestics has been fairly batting friendly and his ODI and A-team stuff hasn't been good. I think better options were left over. If there was a finals for the spoon you'd be battling for it. This team is simply outclassed by the overall rise in quality of CPL picking over time. It'd have been fun in season 2 or 3, and been a possible top team in season 1. Everyone was a fucking idiot in season 1. Freddy picked Dhoni round 1 FFS, and there was hardly any teams! Miller is always pretty good, Cleaver also looks alright, Andrews is a bit meh. Those players being highlighted as best picks isn't a great sign. Klaasen would be lucky to a get a game in seconds.
Haha my first worst pick was Tim White which is why I had changed it. But I looked up who he was and took it back.
Magrat Garlick Team name: Lancreshire Name Rating: A Much like the GAS team name, I do not understand this and it makes me scared and uncomfortable. But unlike GAS' team name, this kind of sounds like a team name I should be familiar with and I feel like its from a book, which therefore makes it classy and me a dullard. So therefore top marks. Squad: Markram Burns Jaffer Mominul Farhat Verreynne Marsh Cornwall Cummins Umadkat? Malinga S Lamichhae Usman Salahuddin Sinethemba Qeshile - is this a real person or another book reference? Dalwat Zadran Parvez Rasool Timm van der Gugten Squad Depth: B I don't recognise a lot of the wider squad picks. I even question the existence of Qeshile. But the ones I do recognise are pretty handy so I'm putting some trust in Magrat's decision making ability here and saying this is fine. The first XI is decent but feels like it's lacking in starpower a little, a few of the round 2-3-4-5 picks feel like they could've gone maybe half a round later, which feels harsh but I'd say Cummins needs to take a few 100 wickets for this team to make it to the top 8. And Cummins might tbf. Best Pick: Mitch Marsh - Round 6 Morgs on Mitch Marsh: Even at Shield level he doesn't seem to stand out in one discipline as an all-rounder. This pick's value will depend a lot on the balance of the team, I suspect. Cribb's Best Pick: Sandeep Lamichhane - Round 13 Morgs on Sandeep : A big risk. Lamichhane has basically played zero FC cricket. Gun ODI record but with a small sample size and against poor opposition. Might come off but I doubt this pick a lot. Worst Pick: Joe Burns - Round 3 Morgs on Burns: Not a massive fan of this pick, definitely a couple of better openers left over. It's hardly a stinker and he probably deserved to go around R3 but probably not ahead of some of the blokes he did. MG is a canny drafter and after a poor start she managed to sneak in a few h4x picks that should ensure that 'Lancreshire (it feels weird to type that) won't be in the race for the spoon. Markram failed since the pick, it sucks but thats cricket. But Burns right after him on a similar failed punt feels like an error. With that poor form after the selection making a few uninspiring early rounds, this is a side that feels like it won't be in the running for the top.
DVMace09/ElvisSpike/Cabinet's mate that buggered off after picking 10 openers Team name: The Round 18 XI Name Rating: A+ Truly inspired stuff from Dev the newest and gunnest cricsimmer. Squad: 1 Yasir Shah 2 Kumar Sangakkara 3 Steve O'Keefe 4 Shannon Gabriel 5 Shan Masood 6 Marcus Harris 7 [vacated] 8 [vacated] 9 Toby Roland-Jones 10 Mahipal Lomror 11 Obus Pienaar 12 Junaid Khan 13 Parthiv Patel 14 Jalaj Saxena 15 Sheldon Jackson 16 Nicky van den Bergh 17 Jerome Taylor 18 (1) Andries Gous 18 (2) Cameron White 18 (3) Jarred Lysaught Squad Depth: C+ This team should be much, much worse than it is. It was set for an F about halfway through and somehow, someway this has been pulled from the depths to be a perfectly competitive squad. H4x and gun late round picks (a few spuds too) indicate Dev has a bright CPL future and will likely be battling for the top 8 in competitions that he selects from the first round. Best Pick: Jerome Taylor - Round 17 Morgs on Jerome: [From Morgie] Jerome Taylor - very good late pick. Though a lot of his internationals were a while ago his record was always solid and he did well in his international comeback. Furthermore his most recent WICB season was excellent, though their domestic stuff is poor. There naturally is risk attached I guess but still a very fine selection. Cribb's Best Pick: Obus Pienaar - Round 11 Morgs on Obus : 1. Actually a pretty good pick. His franchise record is actually pretty decent and even if it wasn't his SC record recently is that good that would make him likely OK. Worst Pick: Mahipal Lomror - Round 10 Morgs on Lomror: Very hard to justify picking an Indian batsman averaging under 40 in FC cricket given their structure unless they've had a lot of international experiance, which Lomror doesn't. He can bowl a bit I guess but even then I can't imagine it would be anything important. A very ordinary pick and someone who probably didn't even deserve to go at all. From difficult circumstances I think you've done admirably to not actually have the worst squad in CPL. Kudos. Though that said, you still possibly do have the worst squad and will likely be fighting for the spoon. Lomror odds on favourite for worst pick in CPL 19/20

My thoughts on this team are kinda strange in that I do think they still have the worst squad, but also think they're very unlikely to get the spoon anyway. I can absolutely see them winning the vast majority of their home games and avoiding it that way even if they just get pumped away from home. Given it's not a full home and away draw, teams who don't draw Dev at his home ground should consider themselves very lucky as the standard of the team will be pretty different from venue to venue, especially if you don't have a couple of good spinners to bring to Round 18 Oval.
Oh yeah it's the second worst CPL/CWPL pick of all time, right behind Ruan Pietersen. He's a worse player than DBZ and was picked much earlier. The weirdest thing about it is just how obscure Lomror is too. It's not like he picked Andre Russell or someone well known but obviously crap at CPL like that; he picked someone almost noone playing would've even heard of. I'd love to know Dhok's rationale for doing it.
Lomror won't be the worst player this season because I'm playing TRJ at 6 before I'm giving Lomror a game.
