Langer was quality right up till he retired and has been just as good in First class since his test cricket retirement. Hayden couldn't handle test match pressure anymore and was told to jump before he was pushed. His IPL form has been good but thats inconsequential tbph
Bullshit. Hayden retired because he wanted too. If he went to SA he would have smashed out another hundred and he would be playing in the Ashes right now.
Strongly Strongly DWTA. I love Hayden and wanted to pick him a round or two after you did but mainly because I like the bloke. He was at that stage (after his last test)mentally exhausted and done. Thats' not to say if he came back tomorrow he couldn't be as he was ( I reckon he'd still be up to it myself) but he might not either and thats gunna effect his skill in this.
Tresco will be the best opener in this by miles. His averages are still excellent, and it'll be Smith and Langer closely behind. He's in great form atm too.
Shutup fools! Mistake What I meant is that Trescothick as an opener is much better than Smith, and Langer is closely behind Smith as well. After seeing him perform like he did on Twenty20 Finals day I am certain he still has what it's got.
Sehwag dominates T20's, does this mean he'll be the best? I reckon Smith probably is the best, I don't really rate Tresco though.
Suppose there's a certain amount of English bias on my part, but Trecothick is the leading run scorer by something like 400 runs in the County Champ. If he wasn't mentally ill he would still be a world class batsman on the international scene IMO.
True, but not the easiest either. I'd like to see him in State cricket, that's a lot tougher but tbh he's still an excellent bat, would make it into most Test sides IMO.
Tresco would make it into most test sides, and he'd be threatening Cook if he hadn't retired, but I don't think you could say he's the best.
Tresco wouldn't make it into many test sides tbh because he crumbles under pressure. When the going gets tough he goes home.
It's called Mental Illness. What happened when he didn't have that? He dominated attacks, end of tbh. It's a shame he went this way, when he was mentally fine he was a great opener.
