Copied it across from a lineup Howe posted because I didn't want to write it all out. Clearly missed Morgan though.
You'd think with Foden in the side he'd have called up another winger to cover - Strettle or someone - but I think this is really just an indicator of sticking with the original squad until it bursts. And tbf Goode is an experienced fullback who was playing there not so long ago. For a stop gap it makes sense. When I first saw this comment I got excited as I rather stupidly thought Andy Goode, not Alex, might have received a callup. That would have been worse, yes, but genuinely glorious. Imagine the great man puffing his way out onto the wing. YES.
Have visions of him at every break in play bent over with his hands on his knees gasping, "I'll be...I'll be fine...Just...Just gis a second..." Weirdest positional pick I ever saw for England was Mike Catt on the wing. Think, in fact, he played in every back position save scrum-half at one stage or another; Woodward was physically unable to name a 15 without him, or so it seemed. Aus Healey might have actually done the lot tho. Maybe not centre. Re Alex tho, what I meant was that Flood offers cover for 10, 12 & 15 too and, to be honest, have no doubt Tobias would win a foot race between the two of them. Don't think Goode's bringing enough to the party with just the three backs on the bench.
Oh yeah I don't doubt that there's more to be offered by picking an actual winger, I'm just saying that I can see why it's happened.
TBF I quite rate Care as a player. Well, in a "poor man's Youngs" kinda way. Just a gaping arsehole with it.
yeah just deleted. BBC site claiming to have text on all the games and neglected to mention that one.
Score? Sky remote isn't working and cbf getting up from eating my bacon roll to go and manually change the channel.
