Doesn't make sense because neither of those defenders are left-footed. You're cheating by trying to fit BOTH Ramos and Alves as wingbacks.
GK: Casillas LB: Evra CB: Vidic CB: Ferdinand RB: Sergio Ramos CM: Hargreaves (when fit) CM: Gerrard CM: Xavi RWS: Messi CF: Torres LWS: Ronaldo
If I had to pick on the above formation, I'd go GK: Casillas LB: Evra CB: Vidic CB: Ferdinand RB: Alves CM: Carrick CM: Iniesta CM: Xavi RWS: Messi CF: Villa LWS: Ronaldo
He's a skilled passer of the ball, next to Iniesta and Xavi, that would be one fricking slick midfield.
I laughed pretty hard at people putting Carrick there. They're all either Englishmen or Manure fans. I don't think the non-selection of players like Kaka, Essien or Pirlo is justifiable over the selection on Carrick.
GK: Casillas LB: Evra CB: Vidic CB: Ferdinand RB: Sergio Ramos CM: Kaka CM: Gerrard CM: Xavi RWS: Messi CF: Rooney LWS: Ronaldo For me
Anyone who doesn't think Hargreaves is one of the best players in the world doesn't know anythin about football
I don't have any ill feelings towards Carrick or Hargreaves, but IMHO he should be nowhere near making these sides. What are we going to see next? Barry and Arteta making these sides?
GK: Casillas LB: Evra CB: Vidic CB: Puyol RB: Sergio Ramos CM: Kaka CM: Gerrard CM: Xavi RWS: Messi CF: Torres LWS: Ronaldo
Even though there are better players around, selecting Gerrard isn't as ridiculous as some of the other selections on here. What about you, Farny? What would yours be?
If you play 4-3-3 they need to be able to defend. I wouldnt involve people like iniesta or fabregas or kaka because they can't defend. Gerrard + hargreaves can go forwards and back excelently
Yeah but the original point of this thread was to pick the world's best XI based on merit, not how they will play with each other or how the tactics will look like.
I don't watch enough football these days to be qualified to give one, TBH. No English players other than maybe Ferdinand would be in it though.
