    1. Josh Dugan
Blew one over lap and spilt a simple off load that looked incredibly promising. Had a few excellent runs though and made good metres a couple of times when it was really needed. He's not up to being a fullback at this level, I think that game was him playing to his full potential (outside of the dropped offload). Would look at playing him on the sting in the future Rating: 5

    2. Brett Morris
Had one of the better games he's ever had for the blues, good metres and no mistakes. I've been a massive critic of his for a long time but I'd keep him in the side on the back of that performance. Rating 6.5

    3. Michael Jennings
Looked Dangerous in attack but just too many errors. Defended incredibly well though I thought, came up with a few big tackles. His decision making still leaves a bit to be desired. Rating: 5.5

    4. Josh Morris

Wasn't heavily involved at all really. Didn't do a lot wrong. Rating: 5

    5. James McManus

Some good takes from McManus under pressure but that knock on near the end was pretty inexcusable, especially as the kick was from outside the 40. Did well to score although probably shouldn't have had that much work to do and should've been standing wider rather than 2m in from touch. Still refreshing to see a winger not completely kook it though. Rating: 5/10

    6. James Maloney

Admittedly I was too busy hurling abuse at Pearce non stop to take proper notice of Maloney. Had a handful of probing runs which is about all you can expect from him. That penalty he gave away was completely unneccesary, achieved nothing and couldn't have been timed much worse. Rating 3.5/10

    7. Mitchell Pearce
What a fuckwit, first touch he drops it cold, second touch he rakes a kick along the ground, never bothered to look at what Lewis was running into when shoveling the ball on to him in the first half and whether there was a chance to have a crack himself or go the long option. Premeditated all his runs (one we had half a chance on the outside), pumped a grubber straight into QLD defenders and then the one point he looked threatening he shit himself and just dropped the ball on the ground. He also missed a tackle on Boyd that allowed Boyd to go another 25m. Rating: 0

  2. Jazz NC Smith

I think that is the best summary you could give for Dugan. He was poor in the context of the game but he didn't really underperform from an individual perspective.

The silly thing that has resulted from Dugan's performance is the number of people praising him - as they did after Game 2 - for his effort and his determined runs. That part of his game is admirable and hard work is nothing to sneer at but it fundamentally ignores what your backs are about. Your fullback should be there for his skill and his composure and Dugan didn't display anywhere near enough of that. I've seen Dugan's performance rated as high as an 8 elsewhere and to me that is like praising a starting prop for his silky ball skills despite the fact that he ran the ball like a girl.
