    Agreed. It's fucking horrible.

I don't mind the 7 tackle rule, it punishes shit kicks in goal. As GYR said, not for field goal attempts though.

  3. Flack SA Flack

20 metres is already a punishment.

  4. Mr Chook MR Chook

I tell you what it has done. How many times this year did you see teams prefer to get tackled on the last right on the opposition line than to risk the 20m + 7 tackles. Than never used to happen.

  5. Mr Chook MR Chook

But some teams didn't mind that. Roosters were one, Pearce on many occasions deliberately kicked it dead to slow down the play and get their defense set, and then Chooks backed their defense containing sides out from their 20m. Its just negative football and it needed to go.

  6. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

And this is a good thing?

  7. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

By that logic you should be punishing players who deliberately kick it over the sideline.

What do you mean by "shit kicks in-goal?" If your aim is to stop "negative" football, why do you want kicks from 15m out to be punished?

The whole concept of negative football is a crock of shit.

  8. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

It's smart tactical play to try to negate fullbacks who already see more open space than any other player on the field.

  9. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Another terrible consequence of double-punishing kicks going dead you see is the prevalence of ridiculous mid-field bombs; the most overused and ineffective kick in the game.

So you think its great footy to see a half belt the leather off the ball from his 40m line and let it hit the back fence in a deliberate ploy to entrench the opposition deep in their own half.

If you thinks thats positive football you're fucked in the head.

  11. Flack SA Flack

Who the fuck cares if it is 'positive'. Making a tackle is negative football, it's stopping tries!

  12. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

What a ridiculous response. I didn't say I think it's "positive" football, whatever the fuck that is. I implied I don't recognise or respect the dichotomy of negative and positive football. The fact that you make such a presumption as if it's just normal and taken for granted speaks volumes.

It's nauseating the way people like Chook think. Put cunts like him in charge and we'd be playing AFL in 5 years.

I've enjoyed the recent rule changes to do with the 20m restart.

I think it's forced teams to use more variation in their last tackle plays in good ball zones, punished poor kicks, kept the ball in play more & kept the tempo of games at a higher level with quick taps being allowed.

They tried to do similar with the 40/20 rule but that was an abomination.

Shhh Magic that cunt MF will have to untwist his panties again.

Same question to you. Is the game better off seeing a half deliberately punt the ball 60m downfield into the crowd behind the dead ball line or have the rule they've adopted to prevent that?

...and with fucking rectum tearers like you in charge we'd all be playing fucking gridiron.

  18. Flack SA Flack

How's that different from punting it into touch? Lets give that 7 tackles too.

  19. Flack SA Flack

That's the most retarded post I've seen. How is 6 or 7 tackles from a kick got anything to do with playing a game like gridiron? Kicking the ball into touch has much more to do with that (ie slowing down the game)

  20. Magic AJ Parker

Kicking the ball dead has always been viewed as a poor kick by the laws.

If that's your real issue with it then it goes far beyond just the new 7 tackles & quick tap rules.
