I've decided that next season will have 8 teams in first grade competing for the Ryan Gayler Trophy, but I'm also going to start up a reserves competition. I'm unsure how many teams will compete in this, but my first guess is 4. To apply for a team in either please complete and PM me: Cheers lads.
Not sure yet. I'll work that all out closer to the end of this season. We'll definitely have 8 teams next season though, with 4 making playoffs, and hopefully a 4 team reserves comp underneath that.
D-League here we come. Are you going to have seperate contracts, or are you going to give teams a "feeder team" type structure?
I feel like you should have a more free contract structure. So reserves can get signe from any of the lower teams on like short term injury contracts. Have a maximum squad size for any team and once main squads are filled you can open up contracts for the reserve teams. Make it look like a completely seperate competition and then give teams the opporunity to release players and pick up resvervists if they want... Would just add in an extra level of intrigue?
TBH I would be much more inclined to run a reserve club if I could determine who I would be able to sign, rather then having my players dictated by the presidents/whores of other clubs...
The problem I had with separate contracts for the D-League is that some teams might get stacked. I'd rather have control over it myself so we don't end up with players sitting in the seconds not getting minutes/games.
Yeah, fair point. Atm the role would be almost exclusively selecting. I'm still not sure though, if I did that I'd definitely have strict roster restrictions.
You just need to do the numbers game. Have 1 more team then there is players... You have a lot more freedom in the amount of teams there are when you don't have to worry about affiliations.
I just have concerns over a certain team playing well/having a couple of decent members and people joining that team because of that. BBallSim is still a fledgling competition, so I'd like to make sure no-one leaves because they're getting stiffed in the seconds competition due to a bad contract when they've just joined and have no idea which side would be best for their development. I understand your view, and ideally I'd have it like that, I'd just like to eliminate my concerns before going that way.
Contract restrictions. You can make them really strict, like positional restrictions or whatever. I don't think people are so fickel as to not sign a contract at all in order to avoid being on a losing team. Look at the colts for example people are still gonna sign for them come next season...
I think in a competition like BBall sim, the player base is generally made from people who have been on Cricsim for a while already and are most likely to join a team depending on what members are there rather than what players. I don't think there are many that make it into a calculated decision.
