BENJI Marshall has headaches and is set to be a shock withdrawal from Sunday's big match against Souths - a move which prompted three betting agencies to immediately suspend betting on the game.

Marshall has copped two head knocks in the past two games and is almost certain to be rested for the Rabbitohs game at Allianz Stadium.

It would prove a massive blow for Wests Tigers, already reeling from three successive losses.

Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens will have lost both his playmakers - Marshall to injury and Robbie Farah to suspension.

After hearing whispers Marshall may be a late withdrawal, bookmakers Betchoice, Sportingbet and Sportsbet.com.au shut down their betting markets on the match.

It is expected they will re-open for punters this morning after Wests Tigers confirm Marshall's absence.

TAB Sportsbet though have continued taking bets on the game although Wests Tigers, minus Marshall, have now eased to $2.90 in betting with Souths the $1.44 favourites.

"Souths have been backed off the map," said TAB Sportsbet spokesman Glenn Munsie. "The TAB never suspended betting on this game although we hear Marshall won't play.

"The mail we got was that he was suffering from headaches like Berrick Barnes at the NSW Waratahs.

"Wests Tigers now have no Marshall, Farah and Keith Galloway. Both their playmakers are missing.

"Everyone assumes Tim Moltzen will now shift back to halfback after going back to fullback for the Monday night game against Canberra."

Sportsbet.com.au spokesman Shaun Anderson revealed why his organisation suspended betting.

"There was a heap of money for Souths and then we heard the Benji rumour," Anderson said. "We're not sure whether Benji will play. We will try and get more information and hopefully re-open (today).

"We took down betting to be safe."

Wests Tigers have won just one match this year - in golden point against Cronulla - after being pre-season premiership favourites.
