I am guessing my player suffers from jacking up too many shots. The last two games has shown promise though.

Adding to this, using PER you can work out EWA - or estimated wins added. Again, this is a slightly flawed stat in that it cannot take on-ball defence into account, but in this sim where the only guy who can notice those things is me (and where the difference in on-ball defence quality is not as large as the discrepancy in the NBA) I suppose that isn't as important.

I've also made a slight adjustment to the formula myself as our league is a bit different, but yeah, here are each of your EWAs.

    Code:

Don't worry if you're low on this list, you clearly haven't been as bad as the best players have been good - so that's nice. This kind of stat is easily improved in our league too - we're 6 round into a 16 round season. Just stay active (practice) and hopefully it shows on the court soon!

Oh and the theory behind this stat is that if you remove a player from a team you could take their EWA of their record and have a somewhat accurate estimation of where they'd be without that player.

eg. The Tigers without Skippos could be 4-2 rather than 6-0

    Those damn shooting %s

That's pretty cool Mousey, cheers for that.

EWA will go higher as the season goes on? I can't remember

  8. Weeman27bob BE Force

I'm pretty sure it increases (in both directions potentially) as more games are played.

  9. Arheiner SIA Yates

All the lead Parrots at the same percentage, interesting.

  10. Weeman27bob BE Force

Chewie is only 0.1 back as well. Certainly very consistent as a team.

Correct. Increases as games are played.

Is there any meaning that can be drawn out of the total value for each team?

    e.g. for the Polar Bears:

    Force +0.7
    Hutchinson +0.2
    Shriram +0.2
    Con -0.4
    Harding -0.5
    Daman -0.5
    Das -0.8

    Total: -1.1

  14. Mariner CL Warrington

    Get a new team.

  15. morgieb MC Burridge

    Welker 1.3
    Vince 0.6
    Astele 0.4
    Burridge 0.2
    Logan 0.2
    Read 0.2
    O'Neill 0
    Dforum -0.3

    Total: 2.6

    Interesting.

EWA wins added is value above what a replacement player would do, assuming they're the definition of middle of the pack. A total of -1.1 would tell us that your team as a whole is worse than if you had an average player at every position.

  17. Jabba HJ Bots

Interesting, shows no difference between Burridge and Read

  18. Weeman27bob BE Force

Oh okay, that makes a lot of sense. Not an unexpected result.

  19. Howe JHF Howe

An average player being Tart, Azzal or Droos?

  20. Mousey AJ Son

    Yeah, basically.

Obviously it's not perfect, especially with a small sample size, but those guys are solid at at least one thing, so they're good starters/role players. If you're below that you're playing at the level of someone who's coming off the bench/is the fifth best starter.

These advanced stats shouldn't be taken as gospel, obv, as you want to make sure you've got players who can play cohesively together on the court at the same time, but it's a way to maybe see who needs a reduced workload or who can give you an extra boost with a couple of extra minutes.
