Yeah it looked awful on the behind shot cause Walsh's head whipped back. Clear accident tho. This is what happens when you set an insane precedent. I literally said to a mate this arvo, matter of time before a big game gets ruined by this faggot shit.

Aside from the tries, Qld have been very ordinary. Being beaten through the middle and on the ground.

Cobbo being beaten on the outside by Martin was laughable too.

    Hynes has been shit

Cant see how NSW can win tho. Their right side was already the weak point. Su'a's two errors kept us from scoring more.

Blues can hold their heads high. They clearly won the middle and fought every minute, just ran out of puff in the last 10 and had no points.

Qld's defence was genuinely awful. The lack of efficient tackling was evident.

I give Hynes some leeway given that his side of the ruck was disrupted but man, he really did jack shit. Luai was much more of a threat. Surely Moses has to come in.

Carrigan shouldve been taken off 10-15 before he was. He was shot. Soon as we got Hopgood and the starting props back on we wrestled field position back. We were pure mush 15 mins either side of half time in the middle.

DCE is just evergreen. The setup for the first try and the 40/20, brilliant. Did anyone see if he was onside for the intercept? Kick for Coates was superb tho.

Say what you will about Martin's shortcomings, the hit on Coates and then the poleaxe on Hopgood...bloke is what everyone says about Trbojevic but actually does it. Talks the talk and walks the walk.

    Tackles inside opp 20.
    NSW 33
    QLD 15

Fucking bizarre to get beaten by 28 with that stat.

The fact that the game was still there to be won with 15 to go is kind of embarrassing tbh. I know they wanna heap praise on Slater and the side, but I really think we were pretty poor in most areas tonight.

Good to see Slater pretty much said the same in the press conference. Long way from our best footy.

Hammer with 8 tries in 5 games lol. Gonna break Inglis's record for sure if he stays healthy.

Maguire has really fucked himself making Trbojevic captain. Dude played 25 minutes and hits it up like Sandra Sully. I get that he's passionate but he simply isnt anywhere near good enough to be an Origin prop. 5 runs for 37m? Makes Brett White look like Glenn Lazarus.

How the fuck is Walsh ruled out of the game based on a doctor looking at video footage? The dude actually passed his HIA? He could've come back on.

It was clearly just 10 in the bin. Sure the defender has to take care to lower his target zone as most players slightly drop in the motion of passing. But the element of slipping, there's zero Suaalii can do in that situation.

At the very least introduce the rule we had when I reffed juniors - Rotate a player off. So NSW lose a man for 10 minutes and Suaalii is out of the game but a replacement can come on after the 10 is up. You cant have a game 12 on 13 for 70+ minutes for a partial accident. Its not like he did a Danny Williams and king hit him.

Tedesco played solid but he still needs to go. His passing was poor. He and Martin both fell off Hunt for his second try. And similar to game 1 last year, he slips over and completely misses Nanai. Only a great cover tackle from Robson prevented the try. His midfield carries and quick play-the-balls were great as always but being a human pinball just isnt good enough any more. He's too predictable.

Suaalii gone for 4 weeks with an early plea. So over the top for a mostly accidental tackle. No swinging arm, no shoulder charge. If Walsh stays upright he hits him in the chest.

Anyway, I'd roll the dice and pick Mitchell. There's no points in this side.

Five tries from our own half. Thats gotta be unprecedented in an Origin game.

Nicho certainly didn’t have his best game but definitely think he had some moments. I’d certainly persist with him and have Moses at 7. I’ve long thought Nicho’s a genuine 6, especially at rep level

Luai was dreadful for me. Had a moment for Tedesco’s try, sure, but this stopping and stepping back into the middle of field stuff just does not work at this level and it kills all momentum. His defensive efforts on the first Queensland try to both miss Nanai allowing for the quick play the ball, and then be sloppy and slow at marker to miss on Cherry-Evans to allow the fry was dreadful.

Moses to 7 and Nicho to 6, Edwards back in, Burton in for Sualii and for goodness sake at least one change on that bench for a prop (someone for Young) are the changes i’d look to make.

Hard to be too upset about the Suaalii send off with the way the game is officiated in 2024, although it obviously sucks ruining a huge game like this.

Agree that while Nicho wasn't good at least he didn't totally shit the bed.

Moses in (I don't care if you play Hynes, Luai or Walker at 6), Latrell in at centre, Burton onto the bench (can't run 4 forward benches in the modern game imo). Edwards vs Teddy I'm meh on, don't mind either way.

As for the criticism of Jake T, I think once we went down a man Madge may have decided he can't have a slug in there and put some of the quicker forwards on. Jake is good in there making his tackles and laying all over blokes generally, but when we are trying to cover gaps down a man someone as slow as him could be a liability.

Walsh is out for 11 days too now haha, so won't play again til game 2. It's so weird.

Looking at the tackle again with fresh eyes, I can confidently say it should have been 10 in the bin.

Suaalii had lowered his body position to make the tackle, so there was no intent to make contact with the head/neck.

It's not a shoulder charge, so he's clear there.

He's crouched and in motion before Walsh slips. Suaalii can't magically change his position here.

Walsh stays upright, he gets hit in the guts/ribs and it wouldn't have even been a late hit.

I wouldn't even call it accidental, it was moreso incidental.

4-5 weeks is lenient for a send-offable tackle imo. Roosters will get this downgraded I reckon. It's only 1 extra game and they have the players to cover it if they fail.

There's no way Su'a is better than Fifita. He threw a great offload for the second try but the two errors and wasted challenge in that 10 minute period were really poor from him. Mediocre at best imo.
