Last week we met up with one of the newer members of the Pumas Cricket Club. This week, we will be meeting someone on the opposite side of the spectrum, L Lover. Lover has been at the Pumas since the birth of the club. Primarily a bowling allrounder, he is currently averaging 26.08 with the bat and 41.90 with the ball.

Lover has not always been a feature of the Pumas' Bannerman Shield squad, but despite this he has remained loyal to the club and continues to be a vital contributor to the club, whether that is on the pitch in whatever role he is given or in the locker rooms.

Pumas Media: You have been a part of this club since the club's founding in season 5. What has kept you here?

L Lover: To be honest, I think it has been the team environment. Before the Pumas I had made a habit of moving on from a club every season or two, but something has kept me at The Mountains. Sure we've taken a few big risks with some of our recruitment at times, taken a few people when no-one else wanted them but to-date it has all worked out well. I don't recall any major or serious arguments since our inception. It's just a really good place.

PM: Despite being at the club for a longer period of time than other players, you have at times been relegated to playing in the seconds. How do you feel about this?

LL: I think it's fairly obvious that I'm possibly the worst CricSim player in the history of CricSim. As I tried to allude to in the first question, the Pumas subbie is just a really good place to hang out. I don't care what competition I play in, as long as I can contribute to the team environment in the best way I can.

PM: Flack sees the Pumas' season 9 grand finals appearance as one of the highest points in the club's history. Do you agree and are there any other moments in the club's history that have been particularly memorable?

LL: Without a doubt. Grand Finals are always a massive achievement regardless of their final outcome. It would have been nice to have won that game but, things happen and it was nice to have been involved.

Other than that, the build up to the Season 9 GF from Season 5 was pretty memorable. When our club started, we were not the strongest team on paper. I'll admit that. But good recruitment and the retention of a core group of players has meant we slowly built up to be quite a formidable opponent in Season 9. We got hit pretty hard in the off-season recruitment-wise, but next season is looking just as promising.

PM: There has been some concern about the large amount of player movement between seasons. As someone who has remained at a club for such a long time, what is your take on this issue?

LL: To be honest, I think it's pretty understandable. There isn't really any benefit to being loyal in the current system. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing benefits for players who do remain loyal to one club for a decent length of time.

PM: Speaking of the player movement, how much of an effect do you think the reforming of the Allstars will have on the Pumas club?

LL: It's no secret that the Pumas benefited greatly from the Allstars disbanding. Therefore, I think it's fairly obvious that the Pumas will be effected by their re-emergence. However it is not all doom and gloom and I am personally looking forward to next season and the emergence of some of our up and coming stars.

    PM: [IMG] or [IMG]

    LL: The computer mouse.
