The Ministry has fallen. However, the Chosen One has a plan, created by former Hogwarts’ Headmaster Albus Dumbledore. For Lord Voldemort had created seven horcruxes which must be destroyed before he himself can be killed. He must find a way to destroy them. However, their allies are steadily decreasing in quantity. With Sirius Black already killed two years previous, and Albus Dumbledore killed by Severus Snape, Voldemort’s power increases. Several of Harry's closest friends were killed during the Death Eater raid on the Burrow. Harry has many enemies in his quest. ~ The Ministry of Magic, now under the control of the Death Eaters and Voldemort, has completed its registration of every magical person in the land. The Minister for Magic has been named as former Hogwarts' Headmistress Dolores Umbridge, following the death of Rufus Scimgeour. Her senior staff now know of every living wizard and witch in Great Britain. ~ The objective of those on the Light is to eliminate all those that provide a threat to the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter. Those allied with the Dark aim to have 50% of the lynch votes, or more, at any point in time. - - - - - - - - - - Rules 1. Lynches in bold, for example Lynch Eds. Nicknames and abbreviations are not fine - it must be the username of the member. If you think I've messed up on counting up the lynch votes, let me know. You may vote to No Lynch - this must also be in bold. 2. Don't be a cunt and/or Skippos. 3. You don't talk about this game outside the thread unless your role specifically says you can. If you do this I'll modkill you on the spot because you're going to ruin the game. I may or may not then continue to harass you across the forum for the next six months. 4. Days last 24 hours. However, this may finish sooner if a lynch target is decided. If there is no majority (>50%) by the time the 24 hour limit is reached, there will be a no lynch. If a majority is reached, then a majority is reached, whether I'm online or not. If two players are tied for lynch votes after 24 hours, one of those players will be randomly lynched. 5. Nights last 24 hours. Just get your orders in as soon as you can so we can all move in with our lives. 6. Once you're dead, you don't post (unless specifically stated otherwise). This means no posts at all. 7. Do not edit or delete posts, ever. Unless you're Eds. 8. Do not quote any correspondence from me or pretend to quote any messages. This will result in an immediate modkill. 9. DO NOT ask questions like "what is the exact wording of your alignment or faction?" when trying to deduce a member's alignment. Lynching based on trivial details like this will see you modkilled, as will asking someone a similar question to the previous example. 10. Format your night orders as "Harry Potter Mafia II: Night x" with x obviously replaced by the night we're at. It's not essential but it's helpful. 11. Only use orange text in your posts if specifically told you can. - - - - - - - - - - Advice - Those of you who played in Star Wars Mafia II know what sort of mod I am and how well you fare if you make ridiculous assumptions based on previous games. I advise against it. - Read up more information on your role and character. Also consider how you wish to play your role – some roles require plenty of thought in order to be played well. What seems like a good idea at the start of the game may not be so at the end of the game. The more you know about the theme the better. - Remember that character claiming will be to your detriment (in the majority of cases). There are lots of people that want you dead. In some extreme cases, it will actually help the town more that you are lynched rather than a mafia objective is achieved. Keep that in mind. - Be very careful in those you trust. - Keep in mind that the Extra Objectives do matter, particularly in determining an MVP. If you do not achieve your EO, you are highly unlikely to rank well on the final game member rankings. You will also be looked upon kindly if you play 'in-character'. - This won't go exactly as the Harry Potter storyline went. It's a mafia game after all. Try to stay open-minded and think about what could have happened rather than what did happen. I've tried to create it so the characters are as similar as possible to their 'real-life' counterparts. - - - - - - - - - - Non-Invisible Game Mechanics - Strength System This works the same as the system in Star Wars Mafia II. However, the strength of each character is now hidden. If you want to know more, research your character. - Activity Influence In order to promote activity in the thread, you will be rewarded for your activity in the form of potential Strength increases. This won’t make a massive difference, although may be the difference between life and death, on occasion. - Items Each member is able to collect items. - Money Each member starts the game with 50 galleons unless specifically mentioned otherwise in your role PM. Some will value these more so than others, as is the reality of the Harry Potter universe. These can be transferred between players, at night. Consider carefully how you can use these credits, and who will value them more than others. You are also able to transfer credits from player to player - simply PM me the amount of credits you wish to send, and how many (during the day-phase only) and the amount will be transferred during the night phase. - Diagon Alley The home of a multitude of magical merchandise, Diagon Alley is the place to buy your wizarding equipment. During each night, you have the option to send me a private message saying you wish to visit Diagon Alley the following day. You will then be able to buy a large number of incredibly useful items at excellent prices. However, you will be unable to attend the town meeting and will be silenced as a result. You will still be able to use your night abilty every night, however you will not be able to talk for the following day and following night. If you wish to attend Diagon Alley, the private message must be sent at night. - - - - - - - - - - Players: 1. 99* 2. Arheiner (Elphias Doge, Special Advisor to the Wizengamot) 3. I get the feeling that knowing who is silenced voluntarily, who is inactive and who is being silenced by any possible mafia roles is going to do my head in.
