Tallis did a shit job at the Cowboys afaic. Convinced he was one of the main guys that stopped Bennett from coming to Nth QLD.

 

There was a split apparently. Bennett said there was no clear yes/no offer and said something like "Fuck a democracy at a footy club. Give me a dictatorship any day." Obviously that's not a direct quote but something like it. I bet I know which side the Bennett-hating Tallis was on.

 

He's no worse a defender than Thurston, really. Certain players are better at targeting halves than actually doing the conventional job. This is particularly true of second rowers. Taylor's another who, just this weekend past, tore Maloney a new arsehole. That sort contribution is not to be undervalued. They can go a long way to disrupting a key player's rhythm and wearing him down.

 

Um.........lol.........yeah. They've been feuding all the way back to when Bennett sacked Walters, Lazarus and Belcher in 2005.

It may have calmed down in the last 12 months or so but they despised each other for years (and privately probably still do). Tallis wrote in the papers that Bennett's approach to the media is holding the game back. At the end of 2009 he wrote that the Dragons "didn't achieve anything the club hadn't already." I think you can tell the tone of voice that is involved there. And so on. Many examples. Bennett evidently thinks Tallis is the lobotomised chimp that he is.

In fact, truth be told, I'm almost positive that Tallis said on an NRL on Fox episode that he thought Bennett was past his used-by date (words to that effect) and not what the Cowboys were looking for.
