Have you ever booed your own team, or players of your own team? I think it's a somewhat interesting topic and am wondering if it is appropriate at any time. Does being passionate enough to boo poor performance really make you a true supporter of the club?
Have never really booed, but I definitely criticised guys like Tambling when at the club. The scenes at the Melbourne game on the weekend were terrible.
Yeah fans even die hards have the right to boo there team. Pay hard earnt money to go see them play and besides fans are saying a lot worse to players going down the tunnel then booing
There's a backstory. the cunt follows afl supporters around trolling absolutely everything to do with them.
You support the club, not the individual. Perfectly justifiable to boo a certain player or group of players if you believe they don't uphold the values that make you a supporter.
Personally I think booing a team is purely selfish, seeing as the majority of the time it has no positive benefits at all towards your club. How do you think someone like Jack Watts, who has clearly been struggling throughout his AFL career with high expectations and numerous burdens, is going to feel hearing his own supporters cheer him off once he gets substituted? As for the people who booed Melbourne off at the race, I am pretty sure three quarters of them were actually your typical Essendon fans who just wanted to get their mugs on TV by yelling some abuse but despite the loss and performance I still couldn't justify that to myself as a reason to boo them off. It's not what the club needs.
Lol, shut up Skippos. I've never booed my team, but the shit Melbourne put out deserved boos. They're paid hundred of thousands of dollars to play footy and they didn't even try. Worth booing, but I'm not sure I'd do it myself. If a team tries hard and is flogged, no booing. But not trying? Boo away imo.
What advantages are there to booing though? I think it's really just a selfish form of venting your opinions, as in it has the potential to hurt the club even further.
If the players aren't trying then it's a really powerful kick up the arse. More powerful than anything a manager could say, for example. Basically what Mousey said.
I don't think it has the potential to hurt the club further though. These are professional footballers. They might be embarrassed, but they deserve to be. If there were no boos they'd get the impression no one cared and continue bumming around getting paid for not really playing, changes won't be made.
Yeah, exactly. If the supporters don't care why should you? Getting booed makes you personally take responsible and try to make amends. If you don't react this way and sook about it you don't have the heart to be an AFL footballer. More potential to help the club than harm imo.
