Biggest Waste of Talent

    Todd Carney

Todd Carney is 29. He's the best genuine 5/8th-running half I have ever seen come through the grades in rugby league. Always just oozed talent. Has a massive boot, good ball player and in his prime a scintillating ball runner. A born rugby league five-eighth and he should have been the NSW and Australian five-eighth from 2009 until he retired. But it just didn't happen. He's obviously one of the loosest cunts in the league and realistically that's probably what stopped him becoming a legend of the game. Origin game 2 2012 looked like his breakout moment. But we lost the series and as per usual the most talented half was blamed for the loss. After a year off in 2009 he won the Dally M in 2010, coming close to a premiership but almost from there it was downhill.

Unfortunately he's going to be remembered for:

    - Being banned from entering his hometown Goulburn
    - Tattoos
    - Pissing on Dane Tilse's mate
    - Barking at ugly women when pissed
    - Fleeing the police after a car chase in Canberra and letting team mate Steve Irwin take the fall. After this Steve Irwin got sacked and Carney kept on.
    - bleaching his hair when playing for Cronulla
    - and most importantly; pissing in his own mouth

That's pretty impressive, that's a lot of pressure.

I don't think I'd be able to reach my mouth.

Probably should have been the aussie half back for years, but he just doesn't give a shit

Did you never see who could piss highest out of all your mates at school? Head height is a minimum.
  5. Julian BJ Taylor

    Not in Australia mate.
  6. cpr CP Raftery

Christ next you'll claim you didn't see who could piss farthest either? Hitting the urinal from accross the bogs gained a mark of respect....

Fucking heathens on your side of the world...
  7. GYR DW Lewis

Judging by the colour of his piss, at least he is well hydrated

That's the whole point of the bubbler. Obviously it helps to be shit faced but the idea is that it shocks people but by then you're really just pissing water. You also obviously don't drink it. It's all about the shock factor. Nothing wrong with it.

Given the dearth of first grade halves at times, I'm surprised Beau Henry hasn't made more of himself. Of those 6 games he played for Newcastle in 2011 he was best on in at least 2 and that was following his 'player of the year' in the 20's (iirc).

To then go on to manage just 8 games over 4 years for the Titans of all teams is a testament to just how big a coke head he is. I remember meeting him in 2009 (maybe 2010) mid season about 8 pingers deep sitting talking to himself at the shitty 'bluenote' sweat den/night club in the gong. Assumed he was injured but was fighting fit by all reports, asked a few mates in the dragons 20s squad who said it was his standard Sunday night (which made sense as to why Bennett wanted nothing to do with him staying at Newcastle).

Not the same context of talent being wasted as Carney etc, but players who had their careers cut short from injuries before they could reach their full potential can be considered wastes of talent. Jharal Yow Yeh and Simon Dwyer, for example.

Yeah, real shame about Yow Yeh, he was really starting to come real good the year before he got injured.

Adored Owen Craigie. One of the greatest sights in rugby league (IMO) is seeing a fat cunt playing at five-eighth and just dominating because he's better at the game than everyone else.

Will always be a huge "what could have been" for me. I could say that about a lot of talent that went nowhere which played for Newcastle tho.

I loved Jason Smith at the Cows and Canberra because of this. The last of the durry at half time brigade.

Yeah thread should be closed with the Craigie post.
