BBS Stats Explanation

    Batting:

    AB - At Bat: Times a batter steps up to the plate to face the pitcher (excludes a few cases, but you can look that up if you care)

    R - Runs: Runs ran in by the batter

    H - Hits: Times a batter reaches first base after hitting the ball

    RBI - Runs Batted In: runs ran in by anyone as a result of a batter who is at bat.

    BB - Base on Balls: Times a batter receives a "walk" after receiving four balls

    K - Strikeouts: Times a batter receives three strikes and is out

    LOB - Left On Base: Times a batter is left on a base without scoring or getting out.



    Pitching:

    IP - Innings Pitched: NFI what this means

    H - Hits - Hits conceded by a pitcher

    R - Runs - Runs scored by other team, including both unearned and earned runs

    ER - Earned Runs - Runs scored by other team that the pitcher is held accountable for

    BB - Base on Balls - Times a pitcher gives walks after four balls

    K - Strikeouts - Times a pitcher gets a batter out after three strikes

    HR - Home Runs - Times a pitcher concedes a home run

    PI - Pitches - Number of pitches made

    PS - Pitches - Strikes - Number of strikes pitched

    ERA - Earned Run Average - Earned runs per nine innings pitched

    well the pitcher forces the walk, so its really the pitcher

    No a walk is when the batter on plate reads the pitchers baiting attempts to make them swing at 4 balls which are outside the strike zone.

    It is actually down to the batsmans ability to react and awareness of where the strike zone is
