    It's not about being paid as much as Casillas, it's about using what Casillas earns as leverage in his own contract negotiations.

    If Valdes is being paid €50k a week and Casillas is earning €100k a week, then given Valdes' position as one of Barcelona's vice captains (IIRC he's behind Puyol and Xavi in the captaincy pecking order) then he's entitled to ask for a salary that's closer to Casillas' than what he's earning just now - say €80k instead of €60k.

    From BBC Sport's David Ornstein: "Rennes have received bids of around 14m euros for Yann M'Vila from Zenit St Petersburg and Rubin Kazan, both of whom are offering him a salary of 4.5m euros a year.

    "M'Vila would prefer to move to England but the offers from QPR and other potential suitors, including Fulham, are short of what they can get from Russia."
