I'd say 50% of my library is 80s stuff. Huge fan. Don't think this counts as rediscovering songs though, but yeah.
The above bands were more or less my top 5 when I was 10. I now find the majority of Blink 182's song-writing so bad and cringey to enjoy going back to even for nostalgic purposes, but the others are tops to go back to.
There are radio stations that play these and other awesome stuff all the time. There's a station here that every cunt refuses to listen to called KOFM. Everyone loves every song that they play but they say they play shit music.
It's what we play at work, and there's way too many fucking ads. And there's only so many times you can hear exactly the same playlist for 3-4 days straight. Good for the odd listen, but having to listen to it regularly makes me hate most of the songs on there.
Speaking of 80s stuff. I recently rediscovered Owen Paul's seminal 80s hit, My Favourite Waste of Time. It has not aged well. Someone also reintroduced me to two cringeworthy 80s white rap records - Stutter Rap (Morris Minor and the Majors) and Holiday Rap (DJ Mikey and MC Sven). Utter tripe. What I really want is a dose of Informer by Snow. Now, that White Boy sure could rap.
Every radio station is the same in that way. Exactly the same. It's just the music that differs. I fucking hate Steve G and NXFM.
Yeah, NX is fucking terrible. The moment I gave up on KOFM though was when I heard the same Kelly Clarkson song 3 times in one 7-hour shift.
