1. Keegan Petersen 2. Kaushal Silva 3. Hashim Amla 4. Virat Kohli 5. Roshen Silva 6. Roston Chase 7. 8. Ben Coad 9. Umesh Yadav 10. Kyle Abbott 11. Jack Leach
If I were to have drafted differently, I think I'd have held off on the Chase pick and gone for a solid opener instead, followed by a better quick who can bat a bit. Chase fills a space that isn't that vital to the side imo. There are also plenty of spin bowling batting alrounders available that are running around domestics.
Yeah I don't think using the new KP as an opener is ideal tbh. You're stuck in an awkward sort of spot now where there's probably three distinct gaps in the First XI to cover, while you've got some good depth in the middle order. I'd draft an opener and make Kaushal keep, probably.
So something like: 1. Opener 2. Kaushal Silva + 3. Hashim Amla 4. Virat Kohli 5. Roshen Silva 6. Keegan Petersen 7. Roston Chase 8. Ben Coad 9. Umesh Yadav 10. Kyle Abbott 11. Jack Leach
Well Keegs gets nerfed whether he bats opening or 6, so it'll just boil down to the best available player from openers and middle/lower order bats in R11.
It's in there as well secondary as well, but he only wants to bat 3/4 primarily, which are spots taken by Kohli/Amla who also don't want to move. So you might as well use his part-time opening ability given that. Opening might get moved up to a primary position if he opens tomorrow, hope for that perhaps.
I reckon the chase pick was perfectly fine. I nearly picked him the one I had before you. Turns it a different way to leach so a point of difference, will be a more than acceptable 5/6 in a 24 team comp and his bowling is definitely better than a batting allrounder in domestic cricket, especially as he’s your fifth bowler.
I think he was a good pickup at that point, but in terms of balance maybe going the other way I mentioned would’ve been a better option. Not too fussed tbh, just found it interesting to think about how it could go differently. I think the team is fairly solid on the whole.
1. Keegan Petersen 2. Kaushal Silva + 3. Hashim Amla 4. Virat Kohli 5. Roshen Silva 6. Roston Chase (5) 7. Mosaddek Hossain (6) 8. Ben Coad (3) 9. Umesh Yadav (1) 10. Kyle Abbott (2) 11. Jack Leach (4) Happy with that. Potential to be somewhere in the bottom half of the Test rankings.
That is some batting lineup. Good opening bowling combo too (ignoring how disastrous Abbott was in CWPL). Should go far.
Yeah I thought about Naseem. Even though he hasn't played a lot his record is incredible as things stand, if only the last twelve months counted he'd go Rd 3.
His standardised average puts him in 12th, so it's just a matter of how much it penalises him for not playing much. I actually expected him to go several rounds ago on the back of him taking that Test 5fa against SL. Once he didn't go then I did kind of expect him to slide until about now though. Shame Pakistan aren't playing any cricket until July.
Naseem was my first choice for the next round. Gutted I didn’t get 3 express bowlers, would’ve been so gun. Your team is ok I guess
