Deserves its' own thread. With my finger the way it is, I can pretty much rule out any controller game in the next few weeks, and with a 4 week holiday for me in a few days, I'll be looking for some click based games or ones that don't require a right hand to pass the time. Only one that's caught my fancy so far is Democracy 3 but have been told longevity wise, not the greatest. Anyway post the steals etc. in here. Obviously you never buy anything that's not in a flash sale/ daily deal till the last day as chances are it'll end up in there.
Some of these are on sale for only 3 hours still Games that I've played: Valkyria Chronicles is fun Don't Starve is pretty fun. Rogue Legacy is good if you like roguelikes. Portal/Portal 2 of course if you don't have them. Sonic + All-Stars Racing Transformed is a fun kart racing game (I play it with Bender and some other mates occasionally) Games which I've heard are good (but which I haven't played or played much of): Valiant Hearts: The Great War, This War of Mine, Wolfenstein TNO (though this is still at quite a high price), Mount and Blade Warband Risk of Rain XCOM Witcher (though 3 is still very expensive) Some of the LEGO games (Apparently the best are LOTR and Marvel)
I haven't bought anything yet but am thinking of getting Child of Light. I also was gifted Huniepop...
Bought that yesterday with 2 Metro games, Grimrock, the last Federation and some DLC for EU4 and CK2 for a combined total of NZD$45.
I was about to buy this war of mine, but then realised my brother has it so I can just use his. Bought the first 2 Witchers, see how they go.
Today's sales The Microsoft RTS games are great, makes me reminisce from primary/intermediate school days. Whether it's worth buying them again if they still work on your computer is another question however. CSGO is great and lots of fun. Prison Architect is supposed to be very well done, especially for what is an early access game. Castle Crashers is a lot of fun playing co-op, but you do need a controller to make it worth it (so is probably better to get on consoles - I think it's available on them?) Sunless Sea is apparently good but I don't know much about it The Wolf Among Us is supposed to be almost as good as Telltale's Walking Dead series, but these sort of games don't really interest me in playing, I prefer to just watch someone else play them and save my money Cities Skylines is amazing and tons of fun. Great community, lots of mods in the workshop to do basically anything you could ever want to do. Frequent updates and developers who listen to the community. Best city builder available by far Shadow of Mordor is supposed to be great, I haven't got it and probably won't until it gets a bit cheaper Borderlands series is heaps of fun with friends playing co-op, and the second one is fine playing solo too. I'm probably gonna get the pre-sequel in the sale. Tomb Raider is great fun and at this price is great value Rocksmith is pretty good if you want to learn to play guitar, though you will of course have to own an electric guitar and the cord to use the game.
Presequal doesnt stand up to the standards of the first ones Chewie in all honesty from what I've heard, the Borderlands fanbase knows this. It's sort of like something that could've been DLC for BL2 but was done as it's own game with many issues not all of which have been solved (I think bosses at least respawn now) Quite frankly BL2 with DLC is really sweet though, especially the D+D game one.
Must admit I'm very tempted by Rocksmith, picked the original up on the PS3 but never really gave it a go because I was staying at my mums at the time and she's never loved my guitar playing. Guessing the PS3 cable will be sweet with the laptop. Be nice to learn more than 6 chords I suppose. Anyone who hasn't got the GTA games for PC and fancies some retro gaming can get them for £5, throw in Episodes from Liberty City and GTA IV for another £3.75..... Personally my only purchase so far has been to replace my long lost version of Sid Meire's Pirates for £1.50.... (2k doing a massive bundle of games: Borderlands 2, Mafia 2, Lots of Civ games etc etc, for just £30, 87% off, so if thats your cup of tea, get on it)
My understanding is that the gameplay is basically the same in the Presequel but the humour is a lot more forced
It's done by 2k Australia, who's since been disbanded. Put it that way. Gameplay doesnt change, you get lasers and anti-gravity jumping/buttslams but otherwise yeah it's basically the same, humour is done by Australians and yes is forced, lots more issues than previous ones (bosses weren't farmable so basically no postgame bar Raidboss Sentinel, worse boss design (RK5 is kinda bullshit compared to where it should be, the thing ruined speedruns until merging was discovered) There's some positives (different voice lines for different characters that you play as which is new) but yeah the game's basically a BL2 DLC at a higher cost.
Game studios disband all the time even if they put out a decent game I don't care about postgame stuff
If it was down at about £2-3, maybe for the sake of giving it another run (only gave it a few hours or so so didn't overly get into it and all its intricacies) However at £5 it just doesn't pique my attention enough to buy it - and I'm probably the marketing teams ideal target
Game Dev Tycoon goes alright, that being said I got it it for 99 cents so probably not so much for $5. Civ 5 is dirt cheap today as well.
