Both look handy club footballers however, wonder if they'll get much money throwna t them after this by local sides.
Yeah Smitty will go this week IMO. Though they aren't giving a lot of attention so that could also mean they're keeping him under wraps.
I think that'll happen to most of the dudes on The Recruit that don't get AFL contracts. Some good exposure for them.
So has Holmes, he's outrucked AFL standard ruckmen in the VFL too. Mitchell at Sydney has been poor though. The issue with these guys is that at the moment they're projecting as depth at best anyway. Clubs won't want tap ruckmen with nothing else going for them playing AFL. You've gotta have an influence around the ground and currently they cannot find the ball and I'm guessing cannot impact the ball. Genuine tap only ruckmen who occasionally lay a tackle. The irish bloke might be a little more likely given his knowledge of a similar game but still unlikely.
I reckon Goss will play VFL next year given he is on Essendons VFL list this year. He's only played 2 games this year due to injury with Xavs and kicked 8 goals
They find ways around it like giving players kids scholarships to their schools, finding them jobs and shit like that. At least that's what I've heard.
With the amount of coin that gets thrown around by local clubs these days there is no way that these good players would be sticking around if they knew they could get paid elsewhere.
EFL pays like the country though, probably the highest paying metro league. Not sure how much the GFL spits out. Pretty sure OMFL etc have players on massive amounts.
Yeah true that, plenty of clubs really willing to spend. Seems to be a bit of a problem for the league to be honest.
Even in the WRFL. Deer Park have Brent Guerra, Ryan Houlihan, Ryan Hargrave and Bret Thornton on their list. Also have a few gun local league players including Trent McKenzie's 2 brothers.
