Second Round - Top Half Seeds have been tumbling out of the Monaco Masters today, the first of which was Wes Welker. He was beaten impressively in straight sets by young Sri Lankan Clayton Evans, who pulled out a terrific low error game combined with some decently placed serves with pace to see off the number one. But even that wasn't much of a shock compared to Chad Dyer winning against in-form Ginger Furball. The big-serving South African pulled out the performance of a lifetime, but still somehow wouldn't have taken it was it not for a poor performance from the Celt. Marcuss Deane took out Gareth Weaver in the other outstanding match of the day, coming home in three sets. Despite having a few problems with his serve, Deane looked a lot better in open play than Weaver. A few untimely double faults let his opponent back into the match, but luckily it was a three setter as if it had continued beyond that, the Englishman was fading. Results Wes Welker def by Clayton Evans 2-6, 4-6 Marcuss Deane def Gareth Weaver 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 Brett Hall def Lucas Schaw 6-4, 6-4 Chris Raftery def by Chris Warrington 1-6, 6-4, 5-7 Jono Chewie def by Reagan Wheelson 5-7, 3-6 Chad Dyer def Ginger Furball 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 Ivan Ryabovol def Truman Lee 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2 Os du Toit def Samuel Vimes 6-4, 4-6, 7-5
Force slowly being won around on the Deane hype through sheer weight of wins. Was never going to lose once a showdown with Teacups was on the cards.
