These are just my 2c, there's a bit of advice in here depending on how you look at it but it's just opinion done in about 3 minutes each, don't read into it too much, I'll probably be wrong all-round. QUARTER-FINALS 1. Arheiner vs Skippos Should be a decent match. 2 strong teams, both have heavy hazard resistance from Magic Bounce, though I've got the advantage there with the ability to spin too if I so choose (Not sure if he can) Quagsire may be the key here, being able to switch into Electrode and Raikou (And even Gyarados), by far the two main dangers could save me a lot of pain, especially with Skippos lack of Grass attacks to take it down. In contrast, I lack physical damage and the Wobuffet could make me suffer badly, along with the amount of 100% accuracy Thunder (Or Thunderbolt if Drizzle is banned) that Skippos can take in this matchup. 2. Chewie vs Hunter Chewie's team is just all-round good, with Tyranitar and Dragonite being able to do almost anything, Blissey will soak up all the special damage in the world and strong, lower tier 'Mons like Nidoqueen will thrive here with the versatility of her moveset. Chewie might want to be careful about taking physical sets on both Tyranitar and Dragonite though because that Cloyster is a nasty tank and even Thunderpunch and fighting moves may struggle to break it, and it will 2HKO the Dragonite. There is quite a heavy weakness to fighting on both teams, which Hunter will need to utilise as it will let him OHKO Ttar and Blissey. Should be interesting but with Magneton unable to trap and Gengar having some bad weaknesses, Chewie may have an advantage. 3. Howe vs Athlai Howe has an interesting team, with a lot of glass cannons-Smeargle, Hitmonlee, and Dugtrio are very squishy but can do a lot of damage. However, Steelix can stabilise here quite well, with Athlai's lack of special damage, and Entei and Feraligatr offer more threats, but as Ather's team is, this is very physical damage heavy, and we may see some interesting selections to compensate. Athlai's team is just generally good with many strong 'Mons, with a decent balance. Taking out Hitmonlee will be key, as the Umbreon will be very difficult to take out with that still up, and dodging the Dugtrio revenge kills will also be a priority Advantage Athers IMO 4. Mariner vs Captain Mariner will be looking to drop Stealth Rock at all costs here, and Forretress with Sturdy will allow it. With no way to remove it, Moltres and 'Zard will suffer and the rest of the selections bar maybe Meganium will decide how close this is. Mariner's team is also all-round decent, but there's a fair few weaknesses to Fire and Grass which can be utilized, which Captain's team will definitely try to do. However, if Mariner sets up matchups correctly after SR, I can't look past his pool in this matchup.
Last time we did a pokemon draft battle thing I lost to Bender who chose a team based on the pokemon left over
I know it's easy in hindsight but Athers made a selection cockup afaic. With a fighting-type sweeper on the other team, a weakness to fighting developing with Snorlax and Umbreon, and Arcanine already there as a fire type, there's no way he should've picked Houndoom over Misdreavus.
