This is literally impossible. I can't limit myself to just ten songs. I'm gonna put down 10 songs I could listen to without growing tired of. Chicago - Sufjan Stevens Trailer Trash - Modest Mouse My Body is a Cage - Arcade Fire The Hollows - Why? The Mercy Seat - Jonny Cash To Build a Home - The Cinematic Orchestra Life on Mars? - David Bowie Tonight, Tonight - Smashing Pumpkins Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd The Wind Cries Mary - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
So hard to narrow it down to 10. I will say that my all-time favourite song is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9muzyOd4Lh8
Glancing at my last.fm and loved tracks etc gives: Kid Cudi - Up, Up and Away City and Colour - The Girl Hall & Oates - You Make My Dreams The King Blues - Save The World, Get The Girl Neon Trees - Animal The Gaslight Anthem - Casanova, Baby! Oasis - Wonderwall Sufjan Stevens - Chicago The Mountain Goats - This Year Finlay Quaye - Dice All songs I love but a few would have no chance of making my actual top 10 list that I cbf thinking about.
If it was 15 I would have had songs like Riders on the Storm from The Doors, Victim of Changes from Judas Priest, Ace of Spades from Motorhead in there.
Casanova, Baby! Was probably my least favourite Gaslight Anthem track, until I they played it live when I saw them, turned out I knew all the words and couldn't help belting out "I'm still these nervous feet and heart of stone Forget this dead mans town, I'll take you home" with the rest of the crowd at the end of each chorus.
I love whole of The '59 Sound album, and Casanova, Baby! was in my starred section of my Spotify for ages which is why it probably has so many more plays than the other songs.
So come back, I am waiting - Okkervil River Black - Okkervil River Oh Comely - Neutral Milk Hotel This Year - The Mountain Goats Two Headed Boy - Neutral Milk Hotel Idioteque - Radiohead Red Sea, Black Sea - Shearwater The Mariner's Revenge Song - The Decemberists Between the Bars - Elliott Smith Milk It - Nirvana Very quickly thrown together list. Would be different next week.
I love that album to bits, but I can't help but wonder what that album would sound like without all the reverb on Sir Brian Fallon's vocals. Also apparently they begin recording the new album tomorrow.
Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton My Way - Frank Sinatra Islands in the Stream - BeeGees Sultans of Swing - Dire Staits Telegraph Road - DIre Straits Nightswimming - R.E.M No Line on the horizon - U2 Sit Down - James Africa - Toto Never going Back again - Fleetwood Mac
In no particular order. Toto - Africa Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son The Doors - Light My Fire Rolling Stones - Paint it Black Elton John - Tiny Dancer The Notorious B.I.G. ft Bone Thugs-n-Harmony - Notorious Thugs 2Pac - Hail Mary Eazy-E - Real Muthaphuckkin G's Jurassic 5 - What's Golden Wu Tang - C.R.E.A.M. Would probably change any other day though.
Just a shame that the majority of cd versions as well as the radio never play the full thing. The songs ends before the best part. I remember having an argument with a friend of my old man one night (a guy who is extremely well-versed in rock n' roll) because I kept telling him his cd version of Sultans is missing the last 60 or so seconds. I just happened to notice it and actually thought I was going crazy for a second. But I knew there was something wrong because it's my favourite part of the song. This is what most people hear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=h0ffIJ7ZO4U#t=235s And this is what they should be hearing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=2jH74e3Qo9k#t=283s
