Using injuries as an excuse is ridiculous. It's either because your players are injury prone, or because your manager didn't add enough squad depth. Probably a combination of both in Newcastle's case.
Hard to add depth to the squad when you've got a chairman like Ashley. All he's interested in is profit.
Since Fergie called Newcastle a " wee club" they have lost four and knocked out of the FA cup In other words don't fuck with Fergie.
They did take a punt on a few injury prone players on the cheap, and it worked out well for them before this season. Plus their squad size was always small, just that they had a good season in terms of injuries last time.
Really. He was bloody excellent in the first half. Second half he was anon because they looked like protecting the one goal lead was better off than scoring a second.
Fabricio Coloccini will stay at Newcastle until the end of the season, according to manager Alan Pardew.
Alain Pardeaux ? Wonder how he will handle the dressing room tbh. They might as well sack him and get a french guy who can speak English in.
So what do you guys think about the January signings? I'll be honest and say outside of Debuchy I know SFA about them.
Debuchy - Very much needed right-back. Also adds the bonus of having the two sexiest men in the world on the team. Gouffran - Striker/Winger hybrid, more of a winger from what I've gathered. Means the 433 everybody has been asking for can work now without the need to put Cisse out wide. Yanga-Mbiwa - Centre back, can play LB and RB as well. One of the best CB's in L1, captained Montpellier to the title last season. Great ball skills. Pretty much the best signing we could have made. Haidara - Left-back. Looks like a pure depth signing, give Santon a kick-up-the-arse. Prospect. Sissoko - Was very highly sought after a few seasons ago, Spurs apparently had a 15mil bid turned down. Hit a slump though and seemingly was forgotten. Very, very physical, great pace and power. A bit limited technically but is pretty much the box-to-box type we've needed. If he plays to his full potential he'll be sold for mega-bucks. Team looks fucking good now. At full strength playing 433. Krul Debuchy Yanga-Mbiwa Coloccini Santon Tiote Sissoko Cabaye Ben Arfa Gouffran Cisse With guys like Marv and Anita on the bench.
Team v Villa Krul; Debuchy, S.Taylor, Coloccini (c), Santon; Perch, Cabaye; Gouffran, Sissoko, Gutierrez; Cisse. Subs, Harper, Yanga-Mbiwa, Williamson, Bigirimana, Anita, Sammy Ameobi, Shola Ameobi. Marv with a late knock rules him out. But Perch ahead of Anita, what?
What the fuck is wrong with Pardew ffs. You buy one of the best defenders in L1 and you leave him on the bench for somebody that has been in a permanent state of injury since he was born. And Jonas and Perch, jesus. Villa being given their best chance today.
Sissoko at CAM. wut. Tbf to Pardew, he's picked a team more than capable of dispatching Villa. You'd imagine Yanga will get 20 minutes.
