Yeah if Scotland beat Samoa they're on 14, which is the maximum Japan can get now. Since Scotland beat Japan they can't get knocked out by them on points difference.
Scotland haven't even scored a first half try yet. USA have improved out of sight from previous tournaments.
I find Scotland hard to figure out, are they good or aren't they? With there running game and fitness I think they will get away from Samoa in the last quarter, not sure about SA.
This is the best Scotland side since the days of Scott and Gavin Hastings. They are still a tier two team, but only marginally so. Quality outfit, Samoa will bounce back. Do not write them off. Scotland vs Samoa will be epic. The Scots should get up if they can get the lead early. Mercurial definition, changeable; volatile; fickle; flighty; erratic: a mercurial nature. See more. Mercurial is not the word I want, I want a word that means tough to beat when their dander is up. Whatever that word is, that is Samoa. If Scotland puts on 10 quick points there will be no comeback.
http://www.worldrugby.org/rankings Will converse with myself tonight a bit until Squeaks or Rego come online. Here are the world rankings. Scotland may be 9th, but their absolute score is not terrible and not that far off the pace. Good side and GF has good reason to be bouyant, but not too bouyant. Scotland will get upset in the Samoa match unless they play their very very best.
I don't have a lot of knowledge on Scotland and thus don't have a lot to say. My pick however would be for Scot to win with a good second half performance.
They're definitely favourites but it's gonna be such an awesome game. I will be relatively neutral but slightly supporting the Samoans. Scotland has really impressed me though. Really wish both could go through.
Willie, JP, Kriel, De Allende, Pollard, FdP, Duane, Schalk, Louw, Lood, Eben, Jannie, Bismark, Beast. bench: Strauss, Nyakane, Malherbe, PSDT, Alberts, Pienaar, Lambie, Serfontein South Africa by 20!!
I think the fact that pretty much our entire backline all plays together at club level at a very successful, expansive Glasgow Warriors side which is used to winning over the last 2 years stands us in good stead. I called us as semi finals dark horses about a year or so ago and I'll stand by it, if we have a good opening to a game then I think we'll worry most teams not named New Zealand. Quarters is where it'll end, it's Scotland after all and sporting disappointment is the way we do things, but the future's bright IMO. I'll be really disappointed if we have another shithouse Six Nations.
