Anyone regularly watch this? Big fan, myself. Thiago Silva just got sent off for putting his hands on the ref.
I watched a bit of Lille last year due to Hazard, but haven't even watched one game this season Heard Joey is having a decent enough season.
Am I right in saying that the French league is one of the most volatile leagues in the world? As in, teams sometimes push for the title one season and then struggle well in the bottom half the next?
Not really. I mean, Lyon won it 7 years running a while back. Since then the winners have always finished in/around the European spots. Ligue 1 is quickly becoming the new Bundesliga in terms of hipster football fans though.
Montpellier a fair way away from the European spots this year, although that's mainly because they've lost their best two players.
Didn't Lille become good from nowhere back in the mid-2000's? And didn't Marseille nearly get relegated a few seasons back?
Watched a fair few ligue 1 games this season since it began being telecasted here regularly. That Silva Red Card yesterday was ridiculous and Beckham's reaction in the stands was funny. Didn't lose Belhanda, tbf.
Wut ? He was Young player of the year and second to Hazard in the player of the year awards last season in France. Belhanda hasn't had as good a season this year with Injuries and a move falling through in January, but he's very good and as good, if not better than either of them.
I'm not saying he's shit. But he's certainly overrated and he's not as good as Giroud or M'Biwa - they'd have found Belhanda easier to replace than they have Giroud, in particular. Not a huge fan of using Player of the Year awards in judging players, tbqh.
Lyon's first title in that run made them the 10th winner in 10 seasons. And the last 5 titles have been won by 5 different clubs IIRC.
