He's using the fact Tippett plays for sydney as a reason to draft him. A) the professionalness of a club isn't going to effect anything, a good player will play well on the field B) Tippett hasn't even had the fucking chance to perform for the 'professional' club.
Round 4: 49. Jabba - Lewis Jetta 50. Brett - Matthew Boyd 51. Morgie - Jack Darling 52. Paulfromoz - Brendon Goddard 53. Nino - Ryan Griffen 54. Jager - Hamish McIntosh 55. Theo - Michael Hurley 56. Harps - Justin Westhoff 57. Diggler - Ben Reid 58. Jimmy_C8 - Ted Richards 59. Shagger - Corey Enright 60. Skippos - Paddy Ryder 61. Benny - Kieran Jack 62. Mousey/Teacups - Jonathon Patton 63. MightyPies/Heef - Nathan Brown (Collingwood) 64. Masters - Daniel Talia Best: Sounds slightly biased, but the top ones are Darling and Jack. Darling has huge potential whereas Jack is probably a better mid than several players taken ahead of him. Also, Talia won last year's Rising Star and Boyd is still an elite mid. Worst: A few here. Jetta while useful in that he can play forward or midfield isn't that good - there were better mids from his club still left, Hurley seemed pretty meh, you probably won't get much mileage out of Enright and Richards, and Brown just doesn't seem to do that much (though this could be wrong).
I hate to be arrogant but anyone who doesn't consider Ryder a steal is clueless given what happened in round 3. For the record I think Goddard, Ryder, Jack and Griffen were all good picks. I liked Hurley and Darling too but there's considerable risk. Nathan Brown, Jetta and Westhoff probably the biggest punts.
I honestly don't see Brown as a risk. I just see him as a better option than many and he is only 24/25
3 absolutely massive sliders so far given everything I've said. Wonder who'll be astute enough to nab them. Remember, it's important to note that - Where a player plays for his club is borderline irrelevant. It's where their skillset applies best. Patty Ryder or Mitch Clark could play centre half back, ruck or chf/ff and do an alright job, Daniel Merrett could play ff and do a good job, so could Brian Lake. Jared Brennan could play absolutely any position bar ruck without penalty. You're the coach, so you control where the player plays, not their AFL coach. Obviously it'd be pretty stupid to play Matty Boyd in the back pocket given he's got no record there, but if players are capable of being versatile IRL, they're able to do it here - Pecking orders are irrelevant. James Magner is good enough to play for melbourne but can't due to the rookie list - there's no way he'll be rated below Lynden Dunn. If a player's good enough to play AFL well but unfortunately stuck behind incredible depth or something, they're still AFL standard. Remember this, it'll help y'all.
In shutting down opponents? He and Ben Reid hand in hand. Well, maybe Reid just pips him at the post - since his knee injury
Brown's a good player but if I'm going to pick a key back this early I want them to have an offensive influence on the game too. 'tis why I'm glad I didn't get Talia.
Yeah but why not get a solid shut down defender. There are plenty of good defenders who offer that run and carry. Not as many young shut down defenders
I'd have picked Tippett before Clark ftr, so I like your pick Theo. Was going to pick him until you did.
Lowlights: Jackson Paine. FMD. Ruins it for me. Cunt would have been available in the 30th fucking round.
