Team History
The Redbacks cricket club has undoubtedly been the most controversial club to ever take part in Cricsim. With controversy never far away from the club, the Redbacks have been dubbed by many as the most hated club in Cricsim ever.

The club began in September 2006 back at the Sidhe forums were E Volavola (Midnight) was controversy dumped from the Sticky Wickets, and despite orders not to, went out of his way to form a new club, that club being the Redbacks. With the club given little chance of getting off the ground, the Redbacks defied many, by taking part in the next season.

It was at the Sidhe forums where the hatred and more importantly the fierce rivalry between the Allstars cricket club began. The CEO of the club, E Volavola (Midnight) was one of the most hated members on the Sidhe forums. There was extra hatred towards him by members of the Allstars, as Volavola and members of the Allstars traditionally never got on, and often where involved in bitter arguments, usually over small things. It wasn't until the round one match between the Allstars, where the clubs played out a classic match, with the Redbacks prevailing in the final over to narrowly defeat the Allstars. Tempers and emotions where at boiling point, and since that day the Allstars and Redbacks continued to passionately hate each other, and forming the greatest rivalry cricsim has ever seen. Despite finishing with the wooden spoon in the two seasons the Redbacks competed in at Sidhe, they where certainly no push overs, often defeating rivals the Allstars, and also Cricsim heavyweights, the then Brumbies (now Cyclones).

The formation of the ATB Cup (now Bannerman Shield) at cricsim.com saw the Redbacks snap up one of the spots in the competition. The rivalry with the Allstars and the hatred towards the club by all others continued and despite signing most of the core players that participated with the Redbacks at Sidhe, the Redbacks finished the inaugural season with the wooden spoon, much to the pleasure of all clubs, especially the Allstars. This period of time described by the Redbacks President as one of the toughest times in his cricsim career. "Now I've been through a few rough trots in my career, getting dumped by the Sticky Wickets at the start of my career, multiple suspensions and constant hackling and sledging whilst on the field, but the moment we 'won' the wooden spoon in season 1, was probably the worst moment in the Redbacks history. We felt like we had a great off season and did all the little things right, so to finish with the spoon was pretty devastating.

It was season 2 of the Bannerman Shield however, which saw the Redbacks have it's most controversial and successful season in Cricsim history. The club had a bright start to the season, however controversy struck just after the round 5 clash with the Cyclones, with the clubs President and captain, E Volavola getting suspended for the remainder of the team for bringing the spirit of the game into disrepute. The club could have easily fallen to pieces, however they didn't though, with the club rallying together to finish the home and away season in their highest ever placing - second, booking them a grand final against Bannerman Shield new comers, the Cyclones. The Redbacks went on to win there one and only premiership, downing the Cyclones in a closely contested grand final. Controversy struck in the off season though, during the time many Redbacks players where hitting the piss, enjoying there hard earned grand final victory. It was announced that the Redbacks where not going to be participating in season three of the Bannerman shield due to disciplinary reasons. The players where all shocked at the decision, and to date, the heroic grand final victory has been the last we have seen of the Redbacks.

There where hints of a club revival at the end of season three as the new comers "the Vipers" looked like folding, however that fire was quickly put out as many clubs did not want the Redbacks to come in. Despite not playing for the past two seasons, the Redbacks continue to live up to it's proud reputation as being the most hated club in the history of cricsim, and who knows? Maybe a return for one of the greatest clubs in cricsim history is on the cards?
