A lot of debate around the Wallabies side selected to face the Lions this weekend, obviously the situations surrounding Cooper and Beale aren't ideal but let's go best case scenario here, no injuries or whatever.
Genia Cooper Ashley-Cooper Folau O'Connor Ioane Beale With Cooper running the joint and Beale injecting himself the last thing you want is a feeble 12 so that rules O Connor out therefore AAC moves inside. Folau is too devastating to leave out so he needs to move to centre.
Not comfortable with Izzy defending at outside just yet, however I think his running game would suit it perfectly. AAC is such a solid option at inside too, that's my prime spot for him. Match that backlien with Robinson Moore Alexander Horwill Simmons Mowen Pocock Higginbotham and it's looking okay IMO.
1. Sekope Kepu 2. Stephen Moore 3. James Slipper 4. Sitaleki Timani 5. James Horwill 6. Scott Higginbotham 7. David Pocock 8. Ben Mowen 9. Will Genia 10. Quade Cooper 11. Jesse Mogg 12. James O'Conner 13. Adam-Ashley Cooper 14. Israel Folau 15. Kurtley Beale
Only thing of interest to me is the backs Genia (best 9 in the world) Barnes (this is where he was born to play) Oconnor (he will be magic) AAC (for stability and he doesn't miss tackles) Ioane 11 Speight sp? Beale Mogg reserve Full back and wing Christian as reserve first five and centre. Don't see how Israel can be picked - might have played well in his recent games but seemed flakey to me in his first 2-3 games (which is what you would expect) Give him at least a full season.
I personally think Deans in a poor selector and tends to put creative players at 10 and on the wing. I think he has long neglected the centres. Peeps like Pat McCabe may be beasts over teams ranked 6-7th in the world but won't do much for you against the best tackling teams in the world like SA.
