What if BS teams were selected off OCC performances alone?

Well for all the talk of how the offseason is a poor indicator, these teams (with a couple of exceptions) wouldn't be very different at all, an in fact I expect some of these "changes" to take place by season's end anyway. I'll go through them all one by one.

  2. Eds E Ames

The greatest spin trio to ever hit the Bannerman Shield. Ritchie, Wilson, Gill.

  3. Howe JHF Howe

Bradford over Emm probably the only change for us.

    %Sticky Wickets

    Team based on OCC performances:
    1. %DG Speirs (46/31)
    2. %JP Thornton (43)
    3. %DT Petrucci (38)
    4. %RM Chowdhuri (62)
    5. %AJ Parker (37)
    6. %DA Alessi (35)
    7. %JB Dempsey (39)
    8. %JM Hughes (34/23)
    9. %GEC King (11/25)
    10. %RS Hutchinson (6/23)
    11. %SDR Laing (5/24)

The only change here is one of balance, with Chowdhuri coming in for the third seamer, Izett. I expect Chowdhuri to make his way into this team by season's end anyway, and this is a balance option the Stickies may even role with early on if they play on real turners.

Haha Gill isn't eligible to play BS for you guys so he won't be considered. :p

  6. Callum CJ Laing

You expect me to open the bowling and bat like a tit? ITSTL.

  7. Howe JHF Howe

I look forward to being #8 in a lineup

    %Cyclones

    Team based on OCC performances:
    1. %IV Narang (47/29)
    2. %AM Farhat (42/29)
    3. %AR Dforum (34)
    4. %S Masters (48)
    5. %EI Morris (38)
    6. %TR Man (37)
    7. %JD Hurricane (32)
    8. %BC Jacobs (13/24)
    9. %GIMH Martyn (11/23)
    10. %MJ Edwards (9/22)
    11. %SM Green (7/27)

Again the main change here is one of balance, with completely uncapped Dforum making the team ahead of veteran allrounder %N Hunt. This is something I think we'll see throughout, owing to the fact that ball dominated bat in the offseason - batting allrounders have performed with the ball allowing for longer batting lineups.

The only real change from what the expected BS lineup is is that of Martyn in for McDougal, something we may see happen later in the season anyway.

  9. Howe JHF Howe

Surely Hurricane's not expected to start in BS?

    %Crusaders

    Team based on OCC performances:
    1. %P Retzel (44)
    2. %E Ames (41/43)
    3. %JJD Heads (50/25)
    4. %TA Miokovic (39)
    5. %M Perry (41/37)
    6. %CL Warrington (48/32)
    7. %JW Taylor (39)
    8. %CM Dyer (27/19)
    9. %JH Ridd (13/17)
    10. %JJ Ritchie (11/22)
    11. %SB Wilson (8/22)

Frankly, the only reason we won't see this side play in Round 1 is so the Crusaders can all the three players in bold a little more time to develop properly. I think we all know they're better than (or at least are going to be better than very quickly) Clough, Immanuel and Crowley.. if they don't finish the season with a lineup looking like that I'll be very surprised.

The chances of you making your debut in first grade before second grade are almost 0, ftr. Selectors don't take too much notice of offseason cricket and it'd ruin your development anyway.

  13. Cribbage RG Cribb

He is if Gonzo/Short don't actually sign up.

  14. abyrulesdforum AR Dforum

Aah ok.. Didn't knew the development thing.. Well atleast i was happy for a second thinking getting a chance to play first grade :p

    Team based on OCC performances:
    1. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=458>S Bakkum</a> (38)
    2. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=405>JE Harding</a> (44)

    5. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=913>JA Chewie</a> (47/27)
    6. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=855>LE Schaw</a> (45)
    7. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=396>AJ Son</a> (40/26)
    8. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=350>MD Dorn</a> (37/25)
    9. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=314>AD Hunt</a> (14/20)
    10. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=178>HJ Bots</a> (13/24)
    11. <a href=http://cricsim.com/site/players.php?id=917>DM Diggler</a> (5/25)

Downes sneaks in over Marto. Not by a huge amount and Downes is coming off the back of an excellent ALC so it's not a massive surprise even though I don't really think it has much chance of happening in the BS at any point this coming season. The rest is the same.

You might after a few rounds. Actually there's a pretty decent chance tbh as things stand right now.

    %Ravens

    Team based on OCC performances:
    1. %RG Cribb (41/26)
    2. %SP Phlegm (42)
    3. %PM Jackson (55)
    4. %MJ Deane (50/34)
    5. %PH Spark (39)
    6. %SSD Dong (38/33)
    7. %DP Howell (35)
    8. %M Faithful (33/22)
    9. %CJ Laing (32/20)
    10. %P Orr (20/26)
    11. %MP Chung (9/20)

The Ravens are a really weird team in that the large amount of quality allrounders and players just now emerging from the ALC means there are about six players of completely different player types fighting over three positions depending on the form and roles of the other players in the team. Spark isn't one of those players as it stands though so he counts as a "change", however I do expect him to be in the side by season's end with Orr, Ryabovol and Laing rotating two spots based on form/balance/pitch etc, so it's not unexpected that he gunned it here.

    %Allstars

    Team based on OCC performances:
    1. %LV Himann (36/45)
    2. %BJT Manera (41)
    3. %RST Downpipes (43)
    4. %DW Lewis (44/34)
    5. %B Olsen (45)
    6. %AJ O'Driscoll (42)
    7. %BA Storer (36/24)
    8. %HT Davis (17/18)
    9. %JHF Howe (17/20)
    10. %TJ Bradford (12/25)
    11. %AD Funkotron (11/18)

One declining, inactive former star (Olsen) in for another (Armstrong).
One silver tier spinner (Bradford) in for another (Emm)

Both of these are line ball decisions and given the respective activity levels of the players involved of late I am in no way surprised to see OCC reflect it the way it has. Both those spots will be keenly fought over all season IMO.

  19. Howe JHF Howe

You bastard, this was my one chance to bat above Davis, do it right

  20. Cribbage RG Cribb

    %Vipers

    Team based on OCC performances:
    1. %JE McGrath (42)
    2. %BM Penn (40)
    3. %T Delonge (50/39)
    4. %J Torres (49/53)
    5. %R Gee (54)
    6. %S Verigotta (52/36)
    7. %DN Boland (36)
    8. %GJ Weaver (32/22)
    9. %WC Welker (13/25)
    10. %DA Eggman (10/21)
    11. %BOY Blunder (9/19)

One of only two teams to throw up a complete and utter ALC journeyman in Penn over Luffman. Funnily enough Hebditch was in this team for most of this season as well before falling away sharply at the end. Weird blokes you are, Vipers.
