Sorry KATA, though you did bagel me. Hopefully I won't choke in another final, gonna need to bring a strong returning game though.
Evans has potential, even more so if Cribb had 15 mins of his time free to do something for me. Should blame it all on Mousey anyway imo.
Finals Marcuss Deane def by Heath Davis 6-4, 2-6, 0-6 K. Fung & T. DeLonge def by J. Howe & O. Wood 6-1, 6-7 (6-8), 5-7 Well a couple of interesting matches going all the way to three here. Deane started off really well, brought his returning game to the court. All started near the end of the first when Deane was two breaks up, when Davis just became relentless by upping the tempo of his serve quite a bet, and quite cut out the dodgy returns (been aced 5 times by this point). He broke Deane and although he didn't win the set, the momentum was really with him and the rest fell into place. In the doubles, aside from the first point of the match being Fung double faulting the first was all FungLonge, as the scoreline suggests. A little different in the second though, as Howe did quite a bit of 140mph+ serves for easy aces one he realised he was 3-0 down and heading for a heavy loss, and they turned it around from there. Wood was the main man when facing serve, and Howe returned enough to put them where they needed to get to. Really could have gone either way, and if Fung didn't pull as many forehands wide of the mark (happened quite often really) I think the NSW duo would have had it. A great surprise though, but congratulations to the winners. Just don't go and blow it in the casino.
