First round of the Rogers Cup (singles & doubles) will be broadcast live tonight. We'll be starting off the coverage tonight by following Gareth Weaver and Marcuss Deane in their match on the main court, before following other matches that are going on during the day.

Welker and Deane are making their way out onto the main court, his doubles partner Welker is already underway against Supple Dong, as is Ritwik Chowdhuri on court #6.

And we're underway with a break! Deane very easily brought it to 15-40, but Weaver got a point back. A short rally ends with Deane taking the first game of the match. It's not the only break so far either, as Ritwik Chowdhuri has just broken Henry Daman over on Court #6.

 

Weaver 0*-4 Deane
Deane looks to be in control of this game already, stealing away a break point from Weaver's grasp. That game then needed 5 deuces to settle it, but Deane got there eventually with a couple of aces. Deane then breaks again, this time a love game as Weaver is helpless to stop it. The Englishman then held serve, more easily this time, to bring the score in this set to 4-0 in Deane's favour.

And Weaver finally gets his first game on the board. Now armed with a bit of confidence, he goes on to break Deane. Elsewhere, Ritwik Chowdhuri has taken the first set without losing a game to Henry Daman. The pair are at 2-1 with Daman to serve in the second. Wes Welker is on even terms with Supple Dong at four games apiece, and Jordan Logan has just been broken in the first set against second seed Ivan Ryabovol. The score is 3-4 there, with Logan somewhat expectedly trailing.
