In terms of talent Papalii and Cartwright are the best of the lot. If either had half the mental application of Cordner they'd be absolute guns. But they just don't.
Is this ref a pom? He's been horrendous. Lebanon got so many bad calls this second half yet still been a try a piece. Credit to them. Been strong in defence.
He's always had a hook problem. So a lot of the time he overcompensates for it and then pushes it too far left. He's got a fundamental problem of simply not being able to kick the ball straight off the tee with any sort of consistency. Very similar to Lockyer, another lefty with an uncontrolled hook, who also used to miss a lot of easily kickable goals. 73% isn't too bad really. I mean Johns is regarded as one of the best goal kickers ever and he was only 74.25%. But not having Thurston who kicks at 79.66% will cost QLD a game in the future imo. I mean I could easily have seen Smith missing that kick in Game 2 this year for example.
Finals should be: Aus Vs Samoa Tonga Vs Fiji NZ Vs Lebanon Eng Vs PNG Aus Vs Tonga/Fiji Nz Vs Eng I wanted to see Tonga Vs England but I suppose Tonga Vs NZ this week is close enough.
This is basically Tonga's chance to make the final. If they can beat NZ they'll fall into a part of a draw where their semi is quarter final is against Lebanon and their semi final is against England. Beating NZ and then beating those teams is a much easier path than having to beat Fiji and then Australia.
