Higgins to end up the biggest meme of the tournament at home, opening the batting and bowling, and then opening as a part-timer in the second innings before the army of spinners is unleashed.

    1. Higgins (1F, 1P)

    Legend.

And you could have had him if you'd traded me Shimron. I wouldn't have cared to think!

Finding a way to finish last. I love it xx

higgins is going to get it in the bum. div 2 lol cute. if that rubbish counts i know exactly who im gonna draft.

  4. Skippos SM Morgan

It's going to be even funnier that Kemar Roach, a bowler who averages 21.8 in test cricket over the last three years, is going to be a part timer in the second innings too.

  5. Cribbage RG Cribb

That's probably not a good idea for various reasons. You'll understand when you get the assistant coach's report. :p

I probably wouldn't have gone Misbah anyway IIBH. He didn't cross my mind at my pick, if he had I certainly would've had him first!

Even if his average gets nerfed by half he's still averaging 25 with the stick and 35 with the ball which is perfectly fine for the role he's playing. And he can open the batting too. And while div 2 isn't great, I reckon career of 35/21, season of 59/22 won't be *halved*. Pure bat or pure bowl I'd happily fob off but doing both is very useful.

The perfect bits-and-pieces player for the balance of my side. You're gonna suck it

mate if he gets near an average of 35 then matt henry is gonna take poles at 20 for cabinet and ive got a player in mind who will at least equal that and his bowling is trash.

Do you realistically think a career average of 20 in English div 2 would be doubled when standardised? That's pretty rough. Plenty of handy players have come out of div 2. County cricket is weak in general but div 2 isn't drastically worse than div 1.

Higgins is a lord. He's going to bowl offies in the second dig at home and skittle you. Accept it.

  10. Phlegm SP Phlegm

    it absolutely will be doubled.

Misbah will be even better on Skippos' dustbowls (at least irl)

Will probably translate to here to some extent too, the fact that he's good against spin seems to have been pretty accurately accounted for, and he'll be tasked with opposition spinners more often at home.

This sort of thinking has been absent from drafting so far, probably fair enough given less than half everyone's games will be at home and no-one really knows how accurate my system for measuring strengths vs pace/spin actually is, but it'll be interesting to see how little things like that change how teams do.

I probably have too many Indian batsman considering I'll probably want a seam friendly pitch? This is partly why I was asking you whether another opener with Dhawan at 3 would be worth considering.

  14. Cribbage RG Cribb

A batsman's strengths and weaknesses are primarily calculated relative to his real life team-mates, so it'd be functionally pretty hard for it to decide that an entire country was weak against something.

I did mention Dhawan potentially not being great against pace in my reply to that question though. :p

You have given me an idea as to how to implement a database improvement for next season with that post though.

It’s round 17, he’s not going to play much if at all. Just felt like taking a punt on a kid
