Hammer & Latrell will play on opposite sides of the field, more likely that Latrell will tear Holmes a new arsehole. His defence over the last fortnight has been as feeble as I’ve seen from a centre in a long time.

I was under the impression Slater had them swap sides only after Latrell got ruled out. Holmes has played left side in previous years and I think that was the plan originally so they might revert to that if Mitchell is back.

"Queensland centres Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Val Holmes have swapped positions in the wake of Latrell Mitchell’s scratching.

Tabuai-Fidow was initially set to play on the right and mark up on Mitchell but will now switch to the left to cover Tom Trbojevic.

It means Holmes will be covering Mitchell’s replacement Stephen Crichton in the series opener on Wednesday night.

“A few positional changes, confirmation that Hamiso will start on the left edge for Queensland and that moves Valentine Holmes over the right side,” Pete Badel said on NRL 360.

They say it was to target Trbo but I have a sneaking suspicion Slater realises he cant have Holmes mark Mitchell. Will be interesting to see if they swap back.

Qld go 1-0 up in the women's too. $3.20 was begging a punt. Sportsbet has no idea about Origin this year.

I would stick with Teddy and just simplify his role, tried to play too much as a creative option because Turbo was playing that supporting fullback role that Teddy should’ve been playing.

I would be happy to go with Campbell Graham in the centres, his defence has improved out of site and he runs a good line. Right edge defence looked shot all game.

Koloamatangi has to start and I would swap Angus Crichton in for Martin as the 4th prop/mobile forward who can provide some cover for a 2nd row injury. He’s done a really god job for NSW in the past there and is a genuine middle option as opposed to Martin who is almost exclusively an edge player.

Starting props Haas & Paulo and I would bring in Spencer Leniu on the bench, got to be one of the best impact forwards in the game at the moment and would be Carl Webb esque off the back fence.

    1. Tedesco
    2. Addo-Carr
    3. Mitchell
    4. Graham
    5. To’o
    6. Hynes
    7. Cleary
    8. Haas
    9. Korisau
    10. Paulo
    11. Kalomatangi
    12. Frizell
    13. Yeo

    14. Cook/Burton
    15. Leniu
    16. Crichton
    17. Murray

You'd be a brave man to drop Martin. He was arguably their best player. Certainly the most impactful off the bench.

I've been Edwards's biggest fan on here and its nice to see social media and fans taking note of his good form again this year. But cunts need to get a bit of a grip. There's no way you drop Tedesco after one poor game. Or a mediocre third of a club season.

Guarantee if they pick Cook, he and Tedesco will cause trouble through the middle. Cook brings him into the game, not by having more touches. Simply by having better touches. Its almost as if there's nothing doing so Tedesco feels like he just needs to get involved more.

Aside from that dropping your captain is about the dumbest thing a coach could do. Its never happened in Origin. Closest wouldve been Daley putting Gidley on the bench.

The damage that would do to player morale and then you've gotta find a new leader. Last thing Cleary needs is even more pressure.

He’s also had his fair share of below average games in a NSW jersey. Not going to get too excited about one good game against a pretty average Qld side. He either starts over Frizell or doesn’t play, playing an 2nd rower off the bench is a waste of a spot.

How? Why do you need 4 middle players on the bench? Especially when Haas should be playing big minutes given how good he is. Injecting fresh legs on an edge is not a waste imo. Worked a treat last night.

3 middles + injury/HIA coverage for the backline.

Picking 2 middles leaves you way too vulnerable as that’s the bare minimum required to facilitate rotations. Picking a mobile middle who can cover 2nd row makes far more sense than picking a specialist 2nd rower because of some recency bias.

Recency bias is a weird term for 'proven Origin form.'

Where does this idea that you're going to run out of middles come from? Cook and Martin cover lock. You dont need 7 players to cover 3 positions. Its way overkill and reduces flexibility in the pack.

You'd need first half injuries to 2 of your starting 3 middles to even begin to justify having another 3 of them on the bench in addition to Cook.

Aside from all that, given your team has struggled to score points, going conservative over a more impactful player is also misplaced logic, imo. You want blokes who come on to make an impact and can punch through holes in the line. Cook does that. Martin does that. Crichton at prop does fuck all.

Also find it weird why you'd pick Crichton + Murray. Theyre both good middle thirders. And both mediocre on an edge. So why do you need two of them? Surely just one of them covers the role you think is necessary.

Siosifa Talakai is the perfect make up of the third bench forward. Can play in the middle, on the edge and the centres.

Youre not wrong. But I'd be extremely surprised if he's picked anytome soon after goofing up last year. To even come into frame, he'd need to crush the Broncos tomorrow, The Storms next week, then absolutely rape the Dogs the day before the teams are picked in a fortnight's time.

Jurbo if fit might be a good shout. He'd play long minutes along with Haas. NSW has no problem rolling up the field and he is their best defender available. Then you can roll with a bench with Paulo as your specialist prop, Api with Cook starting, Young as a replacement edge and Murray or even Burton as a flex option.

Peachey should be playign his 24th origin off the bench.

If I was NSW coach I'd be getting every clip of media saying NSW don't care enough and every QLD comeback for the last 15 years and making them watch it every night in camp.

Also stop picking coaches like Daley and Fittler. Hopefully when Bellamy finishes at Storm he puts his hand up for the origin spot.

I think one of the benchies has to cover middle and edge. Crighton/Martin are probably the best option for NSW in this role. Picking 3 exclusive middles on the pine is a waste.

I love seeing these articles about Pangai wanting to make up for his errors and get a second chance. Much like when he picked Tariq Sims last year who blatantly wasn't up to it, Pangai served up pretty close to exactly what anyone with half a brain would have predicted. Loved he and hudson young gave away 2 penalties early, again exactly what you'd expect when idiots stuck in the 90s are calling for 'niggle'

Think JakeT is out of the whole series. Torn calf.
