Really happy with the Mustangs squad, Alot of new faces combined with some cult bballsim heroes like Welker and Vince should make us a very exciting team.
Forgot, obv. But nah I got work with my dad so that got priority. Was planning on tonight, we'll see if I have time.
No worries, just trollin'. Need to get max posts into our rookies before the season starts anyway. :ninja:
I'd be interested in seeing some kind of rookie draft in the future where new sign ups are randomly assigned to a reserve team for the season. Teams would be assigned picks based on ladder positioned/number of rookies and could scout the rookie players in the reserve comp. Players who get drafted to a team only have a 1 season commitment to that team but can be cancelled/traded by mutual consent.
The only issue with that is that teams probably aren't going to actively chase after unregistered members to get them to join the sim, given that they've got a much lower chance of signing them. I don't know what the balance is in terms of new signups who got nudged in this direction by a team to people who just signed up anyway though.
You could give them a time limit though. For example, you could let new players be free agents and sign for whoever they liked for 24 hours, and if they didn't sign for anyone by then they'd get put into the system and assigned to a team like RyanG said. That way you could still recruit unregistered players to your team directly, but walk-in new signups would never just be lost to the system. It's something I've considered doing for CricSim, but it'd really detract from the subforum setup. I'm sure some of the clubs with better or more exclusive subforum atmospheres wouldn't take well to some annoying new member they hated just being assigned to their subforum without their say-so. BBS doesn't have subbies though so I think it could actually work well here.
I think this was brought up before but Mousey had some reasons for not going ahead with it. Can't recall exactly what they were. Will try and dig it up.
I reckon it's be fine if it was for new sign ups, not existing players. Teams could consider it part of their scouting to suss out a persons personality as to whether or not they will fit in with the team. The player only has to be with the team for 1 season and if things don't work out they can be released by mutual consent. I doubt many teams will force a player to stay if they become problematic. It also helps even out the comp a little bit by giving the lower teams first go at the new talent.
