I was right though 20 was chaseable, 24 was in fact, just couldnt hold on in the end to complete the comeback.
Well deserved win Brisbane, Norman had a great game, deserved MOM.

Kemp's try was a beauty. Yow Yeh to struggle to find a spot

  3. AVA T Delonge

Dear god the QLD commentators piss me off.

If one of the wingers is to be dropped, I hope it's Winterstein.

Bias from the commentators is annoying but no denying Thurstons brilliance, he was involved in every try the Cowboys scored.
Lockyer also had a great game, he wouldve been deserving of MOM too like other people have said.

    Passing a ball =/= Briliance
Lots of other player passed balls aswell, why aren't they the best thing since sliced bread?

Now I'm not denying he's a good player, but even when he ****s up they go on about how great he is.

He created chances that the Cowboys bombed too, I agree the commentators do go over the top, if he has a shit game then he has a shit game, hate when the commentators keep going on about certain players being the best even if theyre in a form slump.

To be honest, he did ****ing well to get into the position to create that 1 on 1 situation to give Tonga that try.

I know, he did some good stuff.
But like the cross field kick that was shit house, lost opportunity to actually do something. And the commentators are going on how he's so brilliant beause he takes chances like that, NO HE ****ED UP, JUST SAY HE ****ED UP!!!

    Thurston should die.

    Poor form.
We were soooo far from impressive. We had a real chance to put 50 on and we just let them back in the game. Any other team would have beat us.
Lockyer was awesome, but he did put out some terrible passes early on.
    Henjack. That's what happened.
He is deaf and can't speak very well.

He did **** up Ill admit there, why did he not take the field goal?
But then had the Cowboys player not tripped he probably catches the ball and scores.

Wow, awesome game. Just finished seeing the Sydney version. I was sooo close to giving up on it at 24-0 and just looking at the final score, but the Cowboys scored their first as I was eating my dinner so I stuck with it. Glad I did.

Both teams have a lot of work to do though; the Cowboys still can't manage to play for more than about 30 minutes a game (mainly due to Thurston IMO, even though I know everyone will be singing the praises of his 'awesome' game) and the Broncos forward pack is still ****en shit.

Problem I noticed was the Cowboys played too aggressive for too long at the start, they seemed to get tired after about 15 minutes and struggled.

Gillett was ****ing awesome. I do regret saying his selection was not deserved.

Teo and Thiaday were ****ing terrible. Teo needs to make way for Sims and Thiaday needs to get better hands.

Wally Lewis: 'Haha i don't think this will be the last time we see Lockyer bending over and in a little bit of pain'

    Wat.

    Hahaha, didn't hear that.

I really think this game sums up Thurston perfectly and while he'll always be a bit over-rated as a halfback. He has better vision than any player I've seen and and his raw skills - passing, kicking, stepping, running etc - are almost perfect as well, but he simply doesn't know how to structure a team and guide it to victory. It's no surprise that the last time the Cowboys did well in a season was whens they won a ridiculous amount of game coming from behind in the last 5 minutes, as Thurston's incapable of playing safe and guiding a team home from in front. When you're behind and you need quick points there's no-one better in the game and his ability to do what he did in that 20 or so minute period tonight is what people will always talk about - and don't get me wrong, it was amazing - but as a halfback he needs to be able to calm the team down and play structured, grinding football sometimes. His ability to also do what he did in that last 10 then and take truly puzzling options when the pressure is on is what will always hold him back, in my eyes, from being a great 7.

It works for Queensland because he has Cameron Smith to organise the forwards and make key decisions, and Lockyer with him too (who himself used to be pretty Thurston-like too IMO but has become more of an organiser in the last two years). North Queensland need to bite the bullet and get Thurston out of halfback though - forget his ego, he'll never be a truly great halfback but he's potentially the greatest five-eighth we'll see.

A 20min blitz of brilliance doesn't turn his game from the shit he was producing to a good performance. 5/10 for Thurston.
