Positions where your club needs another signing

Think this might be an interesting topic thinking about where teams can improve for next season.

Right now I feel pretty happy about where our team is at. IMO it's potentially the best Back 5 in the comp next season with a lot of decent depth, the spine is excellent at their best and even our pack has improved a lot with Sironen, Kolomatagi and Tatola all kicking on and Arrow coming in. In an ideal world there's room for a gun edge forward but I don't think anyone on the market is realistically an upgrade on what we've got. The only real question mark is who comes in if Cook get injured (or is needed for Origin duty)? Usually it's not a massive concern given he plays 80 but I don't know who the hell our second hooker is. Does that mean getting Brittain back? Or someone like Peats?

Souths signing Arrow makes absolutely no sense as you have Murray. Good chance Murray gets wasted on an edge next year.

Broncos need a 1 and an edge backrower.

  3. Magic AJ Parker

Murray is better player than Arrow too, yeh such a strange signing. I assume Arrow will be converted into a prop.

  4. Sultan Pepper HG Emm

Penrith could probably do with another back rower

  5. Paddy P Orr

NQ probably could do with some better back rowers on the edge.

Exactly, which makes it a silly signing. It's Bennett doing the same thing he did with Bird. Signing a good player who really isn't required, and paying huge for them.

Yeah I think this is the case.

I don't particularly love the signing either (would rather it'd be a proper prop), but in fairness the game has only recently moved back towards having small-ish creative types at lock rather than a 3rd prop/defensive middle beast, and I think at the time Murray was earmarked for an edge role (which he was shit at)

This is a hard one because the easiest position for us to upgrade would be halfback but I'm not convinced you could realistically go into the market and get much of an upgrade on a half back like Flanagan.

I think we could do with a young gun 3/4 for depth. Borris & Jorris will both be 35 next year and Toops isn't getting any younger at 30 next year. So I think when you're looking at improving the squad for the future prepping some talent through some inevitable injuries is a good shout.

Suaalii from Souths and Hopoate from Manly look like good young talents who look like they'll be on the move this year.

We legit could use an upgrade in every position except right wing, right centre, left edge backrower and a few of our middles.

Centre. Waqa Blake is piss and Jennings is getting old/going to have to retire if B Sample doesn’t clear him.

It’s weird one as a Canberra fan. Salary cap wise there’s not much at all that could be done to improve the squad. You could argue that some new pace out wide would help but I have a pretty high opinion of each of Smith-Shields, Timoko and Simonsson. Ideally I would move Curtis Scott on, upgrade a couple of those juniors and bolster the contracts of some of the younger forwards to ensure a stable squad and premiership tilt next season.

This will seem really weird but I think a player that the club should sign and would improve the durability/adaptability of the squad for next season is Brad Takairangi. Sam Williams looks set to move on again and that’s who I would bring in. A player like that who you can plonk on the bench for some of the regular season games that covers centre/second row/five-eighth would be valuable for Canberra given Bateman leaving and Whitehead ageing.

I would probably sign a new 1-17 for the Bulldogs.

Warriors need a lock so we can dump Jazz to the pits of Mt Doom. Otherwise we are set 1-17 and our fate next year will be based on how we fare with injuries as we don't have much depth.

  14. Julian BJ Taylor

Warriors need a halfback and a hooker imo.

    Hi Julian

To be top 6 we probably do.

In terms of halves there is a rumour we are kicking Jackson Hastings tires who is presently based in England.
We have also just signed a train and trial deal with the wayward Jayden Nikorima. Jayden is reputedly better than Kodi but with much less poise from an off field conduct perspective.

In terms of hookers -we presently have two signed. We are loving the work of Egan. Some pundits believe we will sign a third hooker for depth.

  16. Magic AJ Parker

Haha POS just signing up all his past failures at the Roosters.

Are you a Dog's man? Havn't heard much from you this season.

Here are my thoughts on the Dogs. Pardon this post as have a number of random points and having trouble sequencing them.

I like your team. Much more heart than those snivelling fucks the 2020 Broncos team. Was delighted when you guys got up off the spoon into 15th. Your team also lost a shed load of games by 8 points or less. Just were 10 percent off the pace but in top sports if you are ten percent off you will lose a lot of games as margins are tight. Don't lose hope.

Here are the cunts I like on your team and would build around

    Hopoate
    Dallin
    Luke Thompson
    Lachlan Lewis.
    RFM
Tolman (why are you letting him go?)
    Napa

    *Don't know their contract status.

If I had to target where to add guys with the supposed war chest you have (do you actually have one?)
Would go both one half, hooker, centre, and two props a starter and bench.

I also would try to turn Dallin into something. He is very nearly a great a player but not sure what his best position is. Maybe try him at centre?? Just speculating as that may flop. He is a fantastic talent isn't playing to his potential. Something needs to be done for him.

Took a peek at your additions and signings for next year
Hetherington is a great signing. Warriors wanted him badly. He will spike your whole second row into life if he can stay away from the judiciary.
Blake Green is a prank signing. Warriors offence sprung into life as soon as he went to the knights. He is a good organiser but a bad playmaker
Don't know much about Waddell but numbers look ok
Tuipulotu Katoa - some hype around this dude. Maybe it is from his agent as his numbers aren't amazing.

Hetherington and Waddell look the good gets there.

I think you desperately need a half signing instead of Green. Use Green as injury insurance once he recovers from his injury.

Like the Dogs. Also like it when they make the playoffs and they break out the "Dogs of war!" line. Gets me into it.

Lachlan Lewis is the worst halfback I've ever seen that's played more than 25 games in first grade tbh. He is horrendous. Waddell sucks too.

Would also mean Rapana wouldn't find himself in the centres again.

  20. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

He is up there with Brenko for worst defending centre in the comp. Possibly ever.
