A mistake. The whole time I've been talking sport on forums, Henry's been the coach. Hard to get used to change these days. :ninja:

Getting old and forgetful must suck.

I think you will definitely see Weepu in there. He has performed well in the past and is the incumbent. As long as he's fit enough, he should be in the squad. Poor domestic form shouldn't outweigh good international performances.

Being young and getting none also must suck.

Those international performances seem a mighty long time ago with the way he's been playing for the Blues. Incapable of playing 80 minutes. I don't like seeing someone who's not giving 100% out there for the All Blacks. Put in the work, get back to full fitness and sure; he should make the team. You don't lose the skill in six months.

There does come a point performance-wise where Super 15 form should come into the selection frame even with internationally proven players like Weepu.

if they pick a squad of 26 they take

    4 props
    3 hookers
    3 locks
    4 loose fowards
    3 halfbacks
    2 flyhalves
    3 midfielders
    3 outsidebacks

with the last person being someone who can cover midfield and outside back or a specialist in either of those spots if someone else can cover them already.

  9. Rego RS Hutchinson

    In that case then:

    Props:
    Tony Woodcock
    Owen Franks
    Ben Franks
    Charlie Faumuina

    Hookers
    Andrew Hore
    Keven Mealamu
    Dane Coles

    Locks
    Jarrad Hoeata
    Sam Whitelock
    Brodie Retallick

    Loosies
    Kieran Read
    Richie McCaw
    Victor Vito
    Adam Thomson

    Halfbacks
    Aaron Smith
Andy Ellis (I hate to say it)
    Piri Weepu

    First Fives
    Dan Carter
    Aaron Cruden

    Midfield
    Conrad Smith
    Ma'a Nonu
    Richard Kahui

    Outsidebacks
    Israel Dagg
    Cory Jane
    Hosea Gear

    Last person
SBW (can play on the wing, as can Kahui)

That would see Matt Todd and Ben Smith miss out - who were originally in my 26.

No way there will only be 4 loose fowards.

The AB's extended training squad of 35 is announced tomorrow.

Should cover everyone in the frame or near.

  12. Jabba HJ Bots

well if they pick Hoeata and Whitelock then they both can cover 6 and 8.

  13. Rego RS Hutchinson

    Squad of 35 announced.

Andre Taylor missing out to Ben Smith, a big shame. He probably wouldn't have made it but definitely deserved to be there.

  14. Jabba HJ Bots

Charlie Faumuina, Ma'a Nonu, Kevin Mealamu, Piri Weepu, Ali Williams, Tony Woodcock, Sam Cane, Aaron Cruden, Richard Kahui, Tawera Kerr-Barlow, Brodie Retallick, Ben Tameifuna, Sonny Bill Williams, Beauden Barrett, Cory Jane, Julian Savea, Brad Shields, Conrad Smith, Victor Vito, Dan Carter, Wyatt Crockett, Israel Dagg, Andy Ellis, Ben Franks, Owen Franks, Richie McCaw, Kieran Read, Luke Romano, Luke Whitelock, Sam Whitelock, Tamati Ellison, Andrew Hore, Aaron Smith, Ben Smith and Adam Thomson

    Shields WAFG

also Luke Whitelock has only played minimal game time hasn't he *shrugs*

  15. Rego RS Hutchinson

Dane Coles also not there. Hansen's gone with the old shit counts like I thought he would: Ali Williams, Weepu, Mealamu etc.

Good to see Barrett there, will be a good experience for him however unless they choose 3 10's he won't make it.

They have 4 HBs as well.

  16. Escath LE Schaw

    Too many Blues' in there.

  17. Notsure SM Green

I'm shocked they didn't pick Guildford or Gear. Taylor is very unlucky to miss out.

  18. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Some bizarre selections there. A bit too soon for Cane and Shields, IMO. Luke Romano?!? Luke Whitelock?

Wouldn't have taken Andy Ellis or Piri Weepu either, personally.

Andre Taylor can be very disappointed. International career over for Gear? Can't see him staying in NZ for long now. A few Chiefs players should feel pretty gutted not to make it too.

  19. Gazza GJ Weaver

Loving the Savea selection. Guy is a machine. Taylor missing out is shit though.

@Jabba, yeah only started his first Super 15 game last weekend. Obviously earmarked to play sooner rather than later though.

  20. Rego RS Hutchinson

Guildford???? are you fucking kidding me???

He was never gonna be in. Gear however, should be disappointed. Gear probably should have got in over Savea. It's a wider training squad and players like Savea, Romano (WTF) probably won't be in the actual side but I'm liking the young potential being there. Not liking the old fucks who have been playing like shit being there though.

I'm so gutted for Andre :(
