NRL Grand Final 2027

Yes! Just got appointed to my first internationals game. No more mod rules!

 

So next week is our big GF day for the Mods (U9's - U12s) and most of the year I've been doing 11s as there are a couple of people who are a year more tenured that have been doing 12s. However, I've been doing some 12s over the last month or so as I nagged the coaches to give me some experience there (which is also why I got that 13s game from pure nagging). In an interesting turn, the guy who was top spot and a shoe in for the 12s Div 1 GF has gone on leave which opened the door for me to instead of doing the guaranteed 11s Div 1 GF, have a crack at 12s Div 1 which is the highest possible appointment for Mod League rules, or at worst, 12s Div 2.

So the referee who is ranked 2nd is this chick and tbf she is pretty good but I have been competing against her during the last two weeks (qualifying final, semis and yesterday was the prelims). It looked certain that she'd keep the spot and get the top gig at GF but I outperformed her according to one coach in the qualifying final and I made a plea to get us both looked at yesterday to see who gets the top spot and the coaches agreed to it. So I had two coaches assessing me yesterday, I had to have a fucking really good game to overtake her but nevertheless, I had a chance. I refereed the game and..........I totally fucking blew it haha. I don't think I've ever refereed as bad as I did. The pressure definitely got to me and on top of that it was a very heated game that got slightly out of control. I was thinking too hard about not fucking up anything that the coaches will see, that I didn't really take control of the game when I needed to, to prevent players getting dirty.

Anyway, it was a humbling experience and I'll be better for it. I'll still get the 2nd highest GF which is still great though.

 

Just a couple of seasons. Yeah the standard of 11s and 12s is really good. Yeah mostly the parents get really into it (albeit sometimes too much) which makes a great atmosphere. Usually GF day is packed too. Plus being at Redfern oval, it's a legit ground so I'm looking forward to it. Not so sure how the state carnival works. I think the association nominates you.

 

I'd watch a weekly show with those two. Those hosts were absolute balls though.

 

I thought I’d break my posting drought for the fans out there who have still been following my career and to give you all a much anticipated update. It has been a tumoltuous few years but it has all led up to this weekend, where I will be making my A Grade debut. I’ll be going toe to toe with Anthony Mundine, Wes Patten and the rumoured debut of Keith Galloway. Exciting times indeed.
