Would love to see that. Only problem I can see is inactive players staying with clubs for too long, but we've got that now with 1 season deals anyway.
Would there be any bonuses for people signing for two seasons over one? Because otherwise, I don't see the point.
A bonus of not being hammered with PM's, and just showing loyalty. Maybe only let board members sign for 3 or more seasons. And you need a certain amount of posts/games to sign a 2 season contract.
Rewards good recruitment if you can convince them to sign for two seasons. Clubs should be somewhat sympathetic. I know we've released players in the past and probably would in the future if it was a reasonable situation.
There can always be a mutual release. If you're just leaving for the sake of it, it can be denied. But if your stuck in ALC and are chasing firsts, I think some blokes might allow a release.
In that case though you'd end up with the ridiculous situation of me making Flash our HoR with Magic as his deputy, because I know Flash might not be around to sign on at the end of next season, and Magic will be loyal anyway.
It's not currently legal/possible but it's something I'm looking into. There are far too many changes between seasons IMO - I'd like to see some more continuity and solidarity within the squads. The big negatives are: * Impact on new clubs if they come in with targets off the market * Inactive players clogging up the system The second can be easily solved by making multiple-season contract holders "declare their activity" every season anyway, though.
Yeah true, but if there are shady deals like that, it would be obvious. And 3year deals should be bonuses for helping on the board. People in board possies get no reward for extra work. Now I don't mind the recruitment season because I'm an attention whore, but for some other people like Muesli, he might get pissed off with 1000 PM's when he would never leave the Pumas.
Legal? Well if we keep the same 8 sides for the next few seasons, multiple season contracts could be an option, now lets face it. Only club die-hards will sign a 2-season contract. And clubs should only offer them to certain people. The Gamblers would only offer a multiple season contract to Vago, Tyson, Hayes, Armstrong and Surko, ATM.
Also multiple season contracts would allow the competition to be regular I think, and stop things happening like all the good Rays players leaving after a season.
