  1. Julian BJ Taylor

Cmon I had the best pick that round

  2. morgieb MC Burridge

    Round 13
    1. Benny - Chris Gayle (51880)
Very good pick this late. A world-class opener in his prime and still decent in the short-form.

    2. Boobidy - Nathan Coulter-Nile (261354)
His form has been a lot iffier in recent times and his red ball record isn't stellar, but should still be pretty decent for this. By this point everyone is a risk or has limited upside so meh.

    3. Captain - Liton Das (536936)
Hard to assess. His international performances haven't been flash but has dominated domestics. Weighted against that is that he's probably not the only Bangladeshi batsman to dominate domestics there and I question the quality of Bangaldeshi domestics. Still, probably a decent pick at this point especially given he's a keeper.

    4. Hunter - Sam Northeast (246005)
Two very good county seasons sandwiched between one poor one. Still it's been pretty hard to dominate as a batsman in county cricket and realistically he's a better batsman than a few other specialists picked ahead of him. Good selection.

    5. Gazza - Tim Seifert (625964)
A pretty OK pick, I think. Has a lot of potential and his record while not outstanding is still decent + he keeps too.

    6. Howe and Dan - Tim Bresnan (9310)
I guess he was always going to go to Howe somehow. Even by R13 standards it's still too early, but I guess he probably would've came on the radar screen for others soon enough, and you can't afford to get trolled like Athlai did.

    7. GoodAreasShane - Craig Williams (316102)
A lot will depend on how associate cricket gets scaled. His ODI stats are good but the sample size isn't great and neither is the quality. His FC stats aren't all that special either. Probably deserved to get picked but it feels a weak pick at this point.

    8. jimmy_c8 - Liam Dawson (211855)
Very no-roundery but did at least have a h4x year with the bat this time around so might be decent. Still, not convinced he suited your needs after drafting Stoinis quite early too.

    9. Phlegm - Matt McEwan (547841)
Good pick. Very close to the best Kiwi bowler left over and no-one from the other best domestic competitions really stand out either.

    10. Skippos - Krishnappa Gowtham (424377)
His FC record isn't really that special and I'm not sure I'd have gone another spinner so soon but he has done quite a lot for the A-team which should help. Fairly nice pick.

    11. HeathDavisSpeed - Anshy Rath (452472)
Small sample size but has been stupidly good in the games he's played. It's a risk but he should be good.

    12. Cabinet96 - Tom Cooper (219885)
Gun start to his season but other than that he's been meh. Can bowl a bit I guess though and there isn't really much left on the board that is a safe option. Should be OK.

    13. Number 11 - Alex Doolan
See above (sans the bowl a bit line). Though his 18/19 was decent too and batting on Bellreive can be nasty. So probably better on batting alone.

    14. spark!ptz - Grant Roelofsen
Has been gun in his half a season but basically no track record in real cricket before that. It's a risk but I could see it paying off, and your first XI I think is safe enough I can see the logic.

    15. Baxter - Ben Brown
Hard to say. His stats aren't incredible and they all come from Div 2 cricket, but is a keeper and there isn't too much left on the board in that regard. Maybe I wouldn't have gone for a backup keeper at this point but it's certainly not a bad pick.

    16. morgieb - Farhaan Behardien
Has been patchy in recent FC times, but at least has a ODI track record (if not a particularly good one) and his overall record has been strong. Probably a fair enough pick.

    17. Magrat Garlick - Sandeep Lamichhane
A big risk. Lamichhane has basically played zero FC cricket. Gun ODI record but with a small sample size and against poor opposition. Might come off but I doubt this pick a lot.

    18. Chewie - Liam Plunkett
He's a tricky one to assess - the few FC games he's actually played hasn't ended up well, but he's remained a threat at ODI cricket. I definitely think there are safer options out there but like Malinga I can see where it came from.

    19. DVMace09 - Parthiv Patel
Hmmmm....his FC record is good but I think he's declined a bit and he's never been a good keeper. I guess there's not too much left over that would be a winner but he is a weakness as your first keeper.

    20. Alex - Imran Khan (316363)
The 5-fer against Australia A helps, but given I actually don't mind the bowling depth left over I think this might've been a bit early. His best Test stuff was a while ago and his Pakistani domestic record isn't really that much to write home about given he was doing it in very bowler-friendly seasons.

    21. MrPrez - Keemo Paul
Gun pick. Very good FC record (admittedly in a bowler-friendly comp) and a good international one so far.

    22. Julian - Graeme Onions
Very good FC record recently but he's far from the only English bowler who's been awesome recently which makes me question the quality of wickets. Has Test pedigree but that was ages ago now. Still, I think it's fair enough.

    23. Athlai - Andile Phehlukwayo
My main query is this pick coming right after Neesham. His FC record is pretty dire but his ODI one is good (his Test one h4x but against weak opposition) which should help. Not sure I'd pick both as my first two depth players, especially given you went a back-up keeper next.

    24. StephenZA - Anmolpreet Singh
Having some A-team runs should help, I think. Strangely though he's been pretty ordinary at Ranji level since his h4x start which might hurt.

    Best pick:

I'm going to say Keemo Paul. HM's to Gayle and Liton Das, with Rath being a pick that could come off big time depending on scaling.

    Worst pick:

A number of picks I'm a bit meh on, I must admit. In pure terms the answer is Bresnan but him being a favourite balances it out somewhat. So I'll say Dawson instead (despite fluking some county runs this season).

  3. MrPrez CM Dyer

I've been on edge all day waiting to see if anyone nabbed Keemo. No clue how he got through this far.

  4. Athlai JJD Heads

Phehlukwayo will combine his Test and ODI figures to become a genuine bowler, that probably can’t bat. #bowlingpick

    best pick Gayle

  5. MrPrez CM Dyer

He's probably better than any of my other pacers so far tbh.

  6. MrPrez CM Dyer

Gayle was on my radar; not sure how the fact that he hasn't played a FC in over 5 years plays into his rating though.

Classic example of a guy who could be awesome or meh, depending on how the database judges him.

  7. Athlai JJD Heads

If we paid Gayle $500k to come okay a fc tournament for 3 months. The fucker would do it and he’d be gun.

    Benny and Alex like this.
  8. morgieb MC Burridge

Given ODI's count and he's played a fuck ton of them in the interim and done fairly well at them I think he should still be decent.

  9. Hunter AD Hunt

    Bressy lad best pick.

    Howe and Dan like this.
  10. MrPrez CM Dyer

Yeah, but one wonders whether ODIs are enough to make a player great.

You get players who are gun at ODIs and properly shit in the long-form. You'd imagine Cribb would have coded in a way to ensure that your LO specialists don't become unrealistically h4x.

This is why I say though, it depends how the database actually works. Potential to be a gun for sure if the database allows for it.

  11. Phlegm SP Phlegm

    mcewan best pick

  12. Phlegm SP Phlegm

philosophically cribb would want to brutally punish attempts to odi h4x with players who retired from red ball cricket ages ago.

gayle could smoke some no hopers but he'd last 2 balls to a competent test bowler with a red cherry imo

  13. Athlai JJD Heads

    It’d be a season of 30 (31), 8 (7), 67 (61), 0 (3), 6 (2) for sure.

  14. Skippos SM Morgan

I was going to probably pick Gayle if I didn’t remember Misbah. Excellent pick. His ODI form has been consistent since his test retirement so could conceivably argue he’s a similar cricketer now than then.

Gowtham wasn’t a bad pick. I needed a spinner if I’m going to pick a dustbowl, because imagine being shit at home if a spinner gets injured. Averaging 24 in FC cricket and 27 i. A team cricket is good, and his record gets better every season pretty much.

Did also take 14fa in a Ranji game last week against a batting lineup who pretty much all had international caps. Recency bonus ftw

  15. Howe JHF Howe

Morgie's credibility has been going downhill for a while, this is pretty much the final nail in the coffin

Athlai, Magrat Garlick and Dan like this.
  16. Captain SSD Dong

Did you end up dropping Bresnan from the first XI in the CWPL Howe?

  17. Howe JHF Howe

Towards the end of the tournament he had more of a managerial role.

Captain and Magrat Garlick like this.
  18. GoodAreasShane S Thexton

How can you possibly say Williams has a poor FC record? Granted a lot of it comes against patchy opposition but he averages north of 40 ffs

    HeathDavisSpeed likes this.
  19. morgieb MC Burridge

All that special =! poor; more average in my mind. It's only barely over 40 too which against patchy opposition isn't incredible IMO.

  20. GoodAreasShane S Thexton

Still streets ahead of any of his compatriots.

Definitely think you are selling Williams short here
