Meet Your Pumas

Not to be outdone by Hughesy and the Vipers, it is time for the media team of the Pumas Cricket Club to introduce you to the members that make up this club. To kick things off, we have not one, but two members to introduce to you this week.

    The Pumas' Heart and Soul

Firstly, SA Flack. Founder of the Pumas at the end of season 4, the club has grown to be where it is largely because of this man. President of the club until the end of season 9, he is considered to be the heart and soul of the club. Without him, there would be no Pumas. Not only this, he is also a very able cricketer, currently ranked best allrounder and second best batsman, who undoubtedly played a key role in the Pumas' appearance in season 9's grand final.

Pumas Media: How do you feel the club is going this season, in both the BS and ALC?

SA Flack: Roughly where I expected. We didn't have a great off-season, losing a few players (Herd, Man and Wilkinson for example), and the players we picked up were more for their potential (See Chewie and Quilty, for examples)

PM: Being the founder of the Pumas, you have seen both the ups and the downs for the club. What do you feel is the Pumas' greatest achievement to date? On a similar note, where do you think the Pumas have failed?

SF: Making the Season 9 Grand Final was a good moment, but we put in a really poor performance in it, sadly.

Our biggest failing has been player retention, losing a lot of good players who we've managed to bring across, or signed up as new comers, only to see them leave when they get to their potential.

PM: Many see you as being the "heart and soul" of the club. Having stepped down from presidency at the end of season 10, are you satisfied with your current relationship with the club?

SF: My relationship with the club is perfect at the moment. I stepped down to give up responsibility as I wasn't feeling up to it any more, and that's all that's changed. I still play for the club, I still get along with all the members and the team in general gets along really well at the moment.

PM: With the bat, you've had a rocky couple of seasons. Season 8 saw you playing well below your standards, but you rebounded strongly in season 9. How do you feel this season has been for you so far?

SF: I've been very inconsistent this season, which reflects my career a bit. As soon as I hit some form with the ball, I forget which way I'm meant to hold a bat, and vice-versa. If I can get in some good form and stick with it for a bit I could still have a really good season overall.

PM: Were you surprised when you first heard about RG Cribb accepting a Pumas contract for Season 11?

SF: Not at all, we have had long discussions about this many times in the past, and I knew we'd get him eventually.

PM: With promising newcomers in players like JA Chewie and BE Quilty getting off to a strong start in the ALC, are you confident of the club's chances in the future?

SF: As long as we can learn from our problems of the past, and retain these quality, active up and comers, we'll be in good shape in future seasons.

PM: Any shoutouts or final comments you would like to make?

SF: This one goes out to the Pumas #1 bat, LE Schaw, WAG.

    From Black to Purple

For the second half of this edition of "Meet Your Pumas", we are very excited to officially present to you the club's first key signing for season 11. He is none other than RG Cribb, owner of CricSim itself. He founded the Ravens in the same season as the Pumas, so it is somewhat fitting that he has chosen to make the transition from black to purple.

The Pumas media team were fortunate enough to catch him for a few moments after his talks with the Pumas board. Here is what he had to tell us:

Pumas Media: Your move to the Pumas will surprise many, as it has already surprised us. What inspired you to make the move?

RG Cribb: We've seen people treat clubs like toilet paper time and time again. We have members who deliberately move around season after season to try to play for as many clubs as possible. We have members who go to certain clubs as the result of bets. We have members who create clubs themselves and pour hours of their time into getting them going (and resurrecting them from the dead in some cases) and still leave. We have members who change clubs 'for the luls' in general and I've become disillusioned; I've given up. I've given up trying to preserve the integrity of CricSim and the substance of CricSim clubs, so I've done what any disgruntled oldfag CricSim member would do these days and left my decision up to something completely ridiculous. To hell with loyalty, to hell with the responsibility, to hell with team balance - I let Ema pick her favourite animal from the list of CricSim clubs and began negotiations with that one.

PM: What about the Ravens will you miss the most?

RC: I will miss the purity and the absence of prank-members within the club. I will miss the cool way my name looks in our awesome font. I will miss actually caring about CricSim clubs as more than one-season stop off hotels. But most of all I will miss Lordeman. WAG.

PM: Are you looking to take anyone else with you to the Pumas?

    RC: No; Cribbage stands alone.

PM: Who do you feel really calls the shots at the Pumas, Son or Flack?

RC: The members look to Flack to guidance and leadership but he meets them only with apathy. And trolling. Lotsa trolling. Hunter is the real man behind the scenes - the club would probably be a mess without him, which of course means he'll leave next season. Ahh the world of CricSim.

PM: Any shoutouts or final comments you would like to make?

RC: 27 Dresses is an awesome movie.

    Not enough Son imo.

The honour of being in our very first edition was put to a poll. The Pumas wanted Flack, and they got Flack. Cribb was a last minute addition due to the shockwaves that his move will cause.

    Fair enough. Good read.

Son/Hunt edition next should be good.
