Steve supports Essendon and is blindly loyal iirc. Inb4 Essendon are innocent of everything #mediatrial #notfair #theworldisouttogetus

Close but no. They are obviously guilty of stuff, but you guys act as if you wouldn't want your clubs to take all due process in order to both protect there players from potentially career ruining legal action, and also to protect your club from being useless on the field for years. The Club are using the process they have to try and do whatever they can to limit the effect long term of this whole saga. At least one person whilst trashing there appeal has made it clear that they believe that Essendon were "fooled" (which is obviously there own fault, no doubt) and in no way were they trying to break the rules. (they were obviously trying to push the boundaries though).

So many "do-gooders" show up out of the woodwork. Essendon should fight the charges to the best of there ability, anything else would be a second failure of due care to there players and fans.

It is a blight on the game with it constantly dragging on.

Lol, Nah. No one in the whole world looks at this situation knowing any of the facts and then comes to the conclusion that the AFL is rife with illegal performance enhancing drugs.

It might be a blight on ASADA though, they are clearly inept.

All of the other 17 clubs are over this and want Essendon to stop making the competition about themselves.

    Out: Essendon
    In: Tasmania

Well not in terms of that. In terms of the fact they are fighting the charge based on a technicality is just embarrassing.

It is the responsibility they have to there players and fans,as well as club members, any other course of action would be a breach of there duty of care.

Okay hows this then, Essendon (the higher ups) make a mistake. In doing so they let down all of their players and then on top of that all there fans. Okay so now they have made the first mistake, (which is not a player mistake) and then instead of trying to get there players off they just decide to throw them all under the bus a second time, that sounds like the right thing to do doesn't it. Because that is what you are suggesting they do...

If the Russian Powerlifter is unwittingly given illegal drugs, then the people who gave them to him should definitely fight for him not just let him take the punishment. 100% every time. More particularly, if your employer involves you in illegal activities (of which you are unaware) and you are called to court it is most certainly the responsibility of the Employer to do whatever it can to reduce/diminish/remove any punishment coming to you because of it. Anything less is definitely a breach of Duty of Care.

I don't mean to say that they shouldn't get a punishment, I just think it is the responsibility of the club to explore all their legal avenues in an attempt to protect the players and fans in whatever capacity they can. At the same time it is ASADAS responsibility to make sure that they are punished as fully as their actions allow under the law. That is the nature of our system...

I can definitely see Steve's point here, but the problem is the club gets off and receives no real punishment despite having its players performing above their normal level for two years. It's their own fault for not copping it on the him earlier tbh.

After their loss to Melbourne, I agree there.

Wouldn't be an admission of guilt anyway, they didn't do anything wrong. It's be confirming the club fucked up.

If the playing group collectively came to that decision I think that would be a really positive outcome.

  17. Mousey AJ Son

Yeah, the whole thing is then essentially finished and they're all good to play next season and not ruin the competition more.

AFLPA want ASADA to defer anything to do with Essendon players until all the court cases are finished, something that could take years.

    Delaying tactics.

Essendon got smashed in court today! Judge dismissed Essendon and James Hird's case.
